Well, considering Epcot hasn't had much of a creative direction for the better part of two decades, I can't see how Tom Fitzgerald coming on board could make things any worse. At this point, ANY kind of clear direction would be an improvement - let's just hope its not the Innoventions kaleidoscope direction.

I hope he walks through there and hurls, and demands it be changed. Highly unlikely I know but its just ick!!

Ok...I'll give Fitz a chance.
But, please....give him proper funding!

Otherwise...you know...bad things can happen...

He's shown himself to have some talent when it comes to script writing for attractions apparently, at least in some cases. I believe it has been said that he was responsible for the script in the fantastic '94 redo of Spaceship Earth. Don't know what else he has worked on it that regard, or whether he has worked on lesser loved scripts. And a good script writer is not necessarily going to be great at other aspects of attraction design. What other projects that are well loved has he had a major hand in (preferably projects where he worked on things besides the script)?

I don't know whether to trust him or not. But I definitely know not to trust TDO or Iger...

Well.....
I'll be an optimist and speculate that someone at Disney home base has noticed the down turn in the Publics perception of EPCOT over the last several years and decided to give it a shot of good old fashioned nostalgia by bringing in someone who was there at the beginning of the EPCOT implementation plans.
IMO..
Far too many "young fresh minds" have invaded the park infrastructure and are trying to put their mark on it.
By doing that they've lost the direction that WED gave to his Imagineers and Architects which was to inspire and educate. EPCOT was supposed to be a place where people can experience the future in FW, and at the same time, honor the past in WS.

We need time for things to happen.
Hopefully they will start with canceling the color wheel Repainting project of Invoventions and paint it something that is clean and appealing. In short, I'm not a fan of salmon color it has been for years but the Technicolor motif looks cheap.
This made me chuckle as I thought with all the things wrong at epcot, how funny it would be if that ridiculous innoventions paint job was the thing that finally just set somebody in charge off.

"Alright, enough is enough --what the he!! Are we doing here!!!?? Time to make some changes"

Forgive me for stating the obvious but I have to say that a lot of people (mostly outside this forum) lose sight that the reason WDW exists is because of EPCOT and that's a real shame. Everything is character driven and MK orientated these days. A little love for EPCOT is exactly what the resort needs, screw NFL and added capacity, if there were reasons for crowds to be drawn away from MK there'd be no need for those changes in the first place (not that I'm necessarily complaining about upgrades, just making a point). What with an updated TT, new updates to Soarin' on their way and now this; please keep upgrading, that's fine with me. But most of all restore the original spirit and identity of the park INCLUDING a brand new figment attraction so he can become the park mascot that he needs to be......and get rid of that awful new FW colour scheme. That would be an excellent starting point. Fitzgerald you have our attention, don't **** it up.

Hmm. Very interesting. And just after CMs asked guests at the gate if they would like to take part in a survey. I was stopped and said, "Sure." What do you know? Within a week, I received a link to a survey in my email.

They had lots of surveys out in Epcot when I was there.
