Imagination! Being Replaced w. Dr. Doof?

No thanks to P&F, the seconds are already ticking on their popularity. By the time an attraction (or even their big screen movie) opens they'll be yesterday's news.

I personally can't get past that horrible theme song. Who at Disney let Bowling For Soup sing for a kids show?

I am all for them to change the Imagination pavilion but I don't think P&F are the way to go. P&F may not be around in 5 years and then people in the Disney community will be complaining about Disney's choice in choosing. them.

Epcot - the new 1/2 day park. You can see more in AK than you can in FW and WS combined. Unfortunately, I think this is just what the bean counters want, full day admission $ for 1/2 day expenses.
Can't say I agree with this. I've had multiple day trips to Epcot and I have never once seen all the films, all the galleries, and done all the attractions in one day. Heck I'm even leaving out shows. That being said: I still want my Rhine River Cruise, Japanese CoP, and my Russia pavilion...

Really? To us Epcot is easily a 2 day park. And I would really hate to see Figment leave. He serves up some retro realness.

I'm not a P&F watcher, nor do I have any idea who this Dr Doof thing is, however that is not the reason I have my issues if this rumor is true. I also have never been on the original JII ride (have watched videos of it) and I somewhat enjoy the current ride. What I have an issue with is Disney replacing current things or adding characters to current rides to "enhance" them. I'm not one to quote Walt, but he said that the great thing about the Florida project was space, they had plenty of room for all their ideas for years and years to come. And they still have plenty of space left to build more hotels, more parks and plenty of more rides, so why do they have to replace these iconic attractions or leave all of these empty buildings or demolish things if they have all this space? I think they should keep some things from the past, keep them updated with new technology, and add new rides/shows to the parks in new buildings. I'm all for change and progress and imagination, which are things that Disney use to be about, I feel like now all Disney is concerned with is the all mighty dollar, ways to cut back on projects. And I think that FLE showed the execs that cutting corners isn't going to fly anymore.

No, they just need to put it back to how it used to be. Nothing new. Keep Figment and bring back Dreamfinder and his giant blimp!
Alas that's pretty much impossible because half the original ride is now taken up by the sad version of Image Works downstairs and Dreamfinder's blimp was dismantled. :( Well... not impossible but not within what Disney would budget for something like that. I can see it now... Imagineering: "We want $X to completely tear out everything we did and rebuild the original from scratch." TDO: "NOPE!" LOL!

Figment and Dreamfinder had their day...time to move on.

I like the 2015 Pixar 'mind movie' tie in that @Lee and @MarkTwain alluded to. If that pavillion can be resurrected, upstairs and all, with this overlay, I'd be thrilled.

What do you mean they've had their day? We're talking about 30 year old original Disney creations, and eliminating them from Epcot would also be removing the Sherman Brothers, Tony Baxter, etc. and would destroy a beloved section that has been neglected for years by WDI. Instead of destroying this section, they should use their, I don't know "Imagination", and redesign this pavilion. And instead of creating Figment vomit to thumb their nose at fans, maybe they should focus on creativity and imagination in the form of an attraction that stimulates people instead of boring them.

The fact is that the pavilion is lacking in attendance due to neglect and a lack of creativity and "imagination", accompanied by a stale 3D movie that wasn't even that great when it first came out. It isn't Figment's fault that WDI has chosen to let that area die a slow painful death. He's one of the last truly inspiring characters that Disney created.

I haven't read the the whole thread, but honestly I've gotta say... I don't hate the idea. The kids have the show on quite often, and there's plenty in there that makes me chuckle as an adult. It's a whitty show.

I think @ISTCNavigator57 said it right. Something like this would be likely to get a greenlight faster than a Figment re-do. I hate to say that, but it's the Iger world we live in.

People we are talking about the imagination pavilion here. My wife has been to Epcot three times and didn't even know it existed. P&F makes this a headliner for my family. And don't talk about P&F's staying power because only the people on this forum even know who figment is.

just because P&F is relevant now doesn't give it a foothold in future relevancy, it's a fad it'll fade away just like every other Disney Channel cartoon has. look at Kim Possible, it was represented in Epcot and it still faded from relevancy. changing Imagination just because P&F is the latest trend on Disney Channel won't help it last for a long time, in fact it will doom it for a longer time. will it help it for a time being? of course, like i said P&F is still the latest fad. but it will go away in the future and then what will imagination have? nothing, except maybe people getting on because their feet are sore. you can't guarantee the ride won't just become irrelevant again in the future.
