Imageworks up stairs

I've heard that one of the reasons that space isn't utilized (aside from the difficulty of evacuating wheelchair-bound folks in the event of an emergency) is that it's really expensive to air condition that open space inside the pyramid, which kind of makes sense, even though you think Disney would have thought of that before they built the pavilion.

I wonder if concerns over air conditioning costs might have have been part of the rationale behind the shuttering of WoL also.

I think staffing is also an issue. You have to really look at how an area is being utilized and determine if the number of CM's coincide with how many guests are using the area. While I used to love the Image Works, everything in there is outdated. It would have required a major overhaul in order to keep it relevant, not to mention the staffing it needed over the current version. It is disappointing that it isn't utilized at all, but there is clearly rationale from the business side of things.

I really, really wish that Apple would take over sponsorship of the pavilion. Could you imagine an ImageWorks full of Apple technology?

Very nice photos! It's a shame to see the old section rotting away like it is. I'm surprised they haven't cleared the area and sold off the more interesting bits. :(

Actually the only things that didn't seem to be in working order were the paint brushes. It was actually extremly clean and organized up there.

Oh, well that's nice to hear. Again, a hundred thanks for posting those photos! I wonder if anyone has any pics of the Kodak Employee lounge. I worked for the bleeding company for ten years but I always managed to forget to stop there. Meh.

Yeah then it would no longer be "Imageworks" it would be, "Test area for new worthless Apple products recently released that are too expensive for you to afford even if you wanted to". Or "iPadworks" for short.

Wow!!!!!. So sad. It looks like It would take them less then 10k to just clean it up fix some things and open it up as a way to few the rest of the park or put a restaurant up there for a little more money! Imagination pavilion is the poster child for Eisner's cost cutting efforts!

That has to be a bunch of crap. Between double paned glass and and reflective tinting that obstacle could have easily been overcome. Has to be more on the side of staffing, cost-cutting, not wanting to update the post show attractions...

Would a restaurant work up there... I wonder!?! I can imagine (no pun intended) a pretty cool restaurant up in that space. What do we currently have in Future World? Is is just Garden Grill and Coral Reef?

Well I heard the initial reason they closed imageworks was due to limited handicapped access and a bottleneck entrance/exit that was a fire hazard. However I find that reason some what bogus as well, considering they could have built a large/wide spiral ramp in place of the small staircase that wound up there. Seeing as it was an open area, it wouldn't have been too hard to do.

APPLEworks then!

Nah, seeing as they would only use it to showcase/sell their existing products, I would just call it another Apple Store.

I think the saddest part of all this is that Imagination is one of the few sponsored pavilions left in FW. Imagine what it would be like if Kodak pulled out... would they just shutter the whole thing?
