I'm SO excited. I love Ikea. I refuse to go there opening week though. It's going to be a madhouse!

You mean Ick-ea... That is the cheapest made furniture out there. It may look trendy but its nothing more than particle board.

The only thing I would purchase there are shelving units that Id put in a room that wasn't used often. I'd rather spend a little more up front for quality than have to buy things twice.

To each his own though.

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
I go there for the book cases.... I have two of the LACK (sp?) bookcases, nice looking, heavy duty ones (I think they were $120 a piece). But its worth it... cause I display a lot of my Disney, and a couple of other art pieces, inbetween some of the free space between the books (nice deep shefls). So I got the expensive ones... to hold the weight... and they look good to. :)

Their coffee is good... but it burns a hole in your gut me thinks...lol.

Parking is always a B**** though... thats why I dont like to go there. I have two Ikea's both 15min away from me.. and they are both always madhouses...:hammer::hammer:

We just had one open near us, and while I thought it was an ok store, the crowds were worse then WDW!! And I just don't understand the walk through like maze type of thing. There is no way to get out quickly once you have started!!

I have to disagree on this. We bought a TV bench and two shelving/display units and most of it is real wood. Granted, it's not cherry or anything - it is a soft wood (can't remember which), but the only things that are particle board on the pieces we bought were the backs of the drawers.

Really? It seems like every piece of shelving unit or cabinets that I have seen are all crappy particle board (Wal*Mart quality furniture).

Check the edges...because it LOOKS like wood...but I have bought bookcases from them thinking it was wood only to get it home and realize that entire thing was particle board finished to look like real wood. One edge (the hidden edge) on each piece wasn't finished which made it a dead giveaway.

No, it is real wood.

DH, bless his heart, when putting it together accidentally drilled a hole in the top of the TV bench. It was confirmed the hard way it's real wood throughout, except, as I said, in the drawers.

The description also said solid wood. The pieces we bought were a bit more expensive than most at that store, though still a steal for real wood. We're happy with them! Well... except for the extra hole...:lookaroun

Some of their stuff is particle board, but I have quite a few pieces that are real honest to goodness wood. Two TV Cabinets, one with glass doors, a coffee table, two DVD cabinets, a couple of real wood shelving units and my bed. :o)
And the price for each of these pieces I couldn't have touched in a normal furnature store.
These are my TV Cabinets:

My Coffee Table:

(Which I bought for less than this.. it was on sale that day for $65.)

Bookcase:

(Again bought on sale for almost half)

Dresser made of Particle Board:

They don't hide it at least. :)

They have real good sales where you can find some really good deals on their furniture. I even like some of their cookware. And they sell neat funky lighting too.

Ok.. I am a fan! :sohappy:
Anyway... give it a try or maybe I shouldn't say anything.. one less person I have to fight for a parking space.

Have Fun!

I can't wait!! I have a couple of friends who are working there, so I get to go to the exclusive "Friends and Families" day on the 10th ;-) I'll let you guys know how she looks!
