Iger shoots down idea of Dreamfinder return to JII

So is this, D23 and the new pass the only news from Iger?

What did you expect, JT?

The shareholders meeting is used almost entirely to report the prior year's financials and look ahead at what's on the immediate horizon ... and, of course, make the current regime look as good as possible.

I used to attend annually before they began throwing it in out of the way places unlike say Anaheim, Orlando or NYC.

I seriously doubt whether The Weatherman even knows what a 'Dreamfinder' is .. maybe he thinks it's a Dreamcatcher?

As to news? D23 wasn't really news because the word for a while has been that it wouldn't be on this year ... so they announced dates for 2011. Great.

And the Domestic Disney Parks AP was no secret either ... many Spirits have said it was coming for many months now.

I'm not sure what was more amusing from today ... Iger avoiding all those questions about the nasty hotel workers contract situation in Anaheim ... the annual Song of the South question and blowoff (he should simply say it would cause some image issues so we're going to continue to pretend it doesn't exist) or showing a trailer for Iron Man 2 -- a PARAMOUNT PICTURES film -- and make it seem like it was somehow Disney. It's less Disney than say TDR is.

Glad I didn't waste time and money to fly to San Antonio.

Yep thats it. No AK expansion like you were sure of months ago they would annouce at the shareholder meetings:ROFLOL:. This and that right?

Please provide a link of me saying that? :lookaroun I know I never said that. They would make that announcement at D23.

There was something I thought they might announce but I can't remember what it is. Monthly payments? Or maybe something to do with Marvel.

The Imagination Pavilion is an embarassment. I don't necessarily think that bringing back Dreamfinder is the only way to fix it, because bringing back Figment didn't improve it.

They could eliminate Dreamfinder, they could eliminate Figment, but they can't eliminate Imagination - that's the problem right now. It's not an imaginative pavilion, it's not creative, it's not the same whimsical experience it used to be.

Sometimes they will drop hints. But apparently that is reserved for D23 now.

I can't believe there are no creative stockholders that are clever enough to ask better questions and flush out some new info. Oh well.:snore:

Actually the movie is made my Marvel not Paramount. Paramount is only distributing the movie. Therefore Disney will be getting the bulk of the profit from this one not Paramount.

The way he handled some of the questions seems kind of arrogant....at least Iger acknowledged Roy E. Disney and all he did for WDFA.

I am ashamed to say that I know that he was NOT an actor hired by Bob Iger. He is a member of our local chapter of the NFFC and at our last meeting he bragged about a speech he had written by a former corporate writer to present his question about the Dreamfinder. I, too, would love to see the Dreamfinder return but he really lost me with his endless prattle. And his dismissal of his two time warnings really, in my opinion, lost his cause.
This guy does have a tendency to remind people that he is a member of MENSA and I am surprised he didn't bring it up during his speech.

Thanks for that background info! It makes me cringe even more now than when I first heard him up there humiliating himself and anyone else who ever liked the original JII ride, but at least it's good to know this guy wasn't a corporate plant or a bizarre performance artist who snuck in.

Is there maybe a friend of his who could pull him aside and let him know how poorly this went for him? He seems to have set his cause back about 10 years. :(

LOL! Why am i not surprised? I'm sure he's a fine person and all, just needs to work on his presentation skills!
I'M not even sure I would say he's a fine person. I swear he swindled me out of 20 bucks last meeting when I KNOW my chapter dues wasn't due again until July. LOL...
As for a friend pulling him aside I have every intention of doing it. I am sure, and I hope that my voice will not be the first one he hears this from. Like I said he stated he got a friend to write up his question who is also an FOF (Friend of Figment) who has written questions for him before at shareholder's meetings regarding Figment. He feels he has had personal wins in the past as figment has returned to the attraction and the old figment meet and greet (Fig-zilla as he calls him) has disappeared. I don't think his campaigns had any impact on those operational decisions. I don't remember how the other questions were phrased but I sure hope it was better than today's.

Where did this happen and how can we see or hear it?

Dreamfinder guy starts right before 58 minutes in. Continues until 1:04.

Sounds like this guy just enjoys getting in the spotlight every now and then. He bragged about asking Eisner a JII question in 2005 during his speech. Seems to see himself as a "speak truth to power" type.

Also, did I hear him say that a Dreamfinder puppet was responsible for extending the life of a terminally ill child? I was too zoned out to pay close attention.

Actually I think he said that it was PROVEN that Dreamfinder's charecter has extended several peoples life spans. He claims he had a study showing it I think or it could be I misunderstood.
