I posted about this in a similar thread in the vacation planning section, but will add some thoughts here.
Yes, the e-mail offer went out to a lot of folks- most were staying at the Values Resorts. I have a friend who recieved it ashe is staying at ASMusic, so it is NOT just folks booked in at Pop that are getting it.
My THEORY is this offer is being made so Disney can move those folks already booked into a Value to the empty rooms over at these DVC properties so they can have more Value rooms availible to re-sell. Thus, someone wanting to come down and visit during that time can get a Value room as these are what fill up the quickest, exspecially these days! I am not sure if the Sept Free Dining Offer is still open ( last i heard it was different dates being offered now..) but it makes sense to 'clean house' as best as possible to open up those Value rooms again to be 're-sold'.
As far as Saratoga Springs goes.....
This is just my personal opinion, but it really lacks the 'Disney Resort' look and feel. I have been by it many times on my rides to DTD, and it looks pretty much like any other large hotel but with a lackluster semi-theme slapped onto the sides of an otherwise eyesore of a building. Other Guests i know LOVE to stay here, and find it charming, but i am not a big fan. Maybe the INSIDE is better? I never felt motivated to stay there. I don't care for it's location either, which is in a very busy, built up area very close to all the congestion of DTD. I am sure there are people out there who like that type of enviroment and find it exciting, and perhaps want to be close to the DTD area, but it's not for me. I like the 'secluded' feel that most of the other Resorts have to offer..even the Values feel more 'Disney' and 'secluded' then SS!
Again, this is just my personal feeling of the place. Just my thoughts.
One other thing- you don't have to have your package paid off to take advantage of the offer. My friend also thought this was true but when he called WDTravel Co. he was assured this was not the case. His date to pay the balance is in a week anyway, so perhaps this is why he was given the ok...
