I think I'm starting to regret booking.

I watched just to see. I was floored. Then I watched the Indiana Jones queue & ride-thru. Any doubts I had about going? GONE! Indy should finish refurb before we get there. I'm hopeful DL will stay on-schedule. Indy looks amazing. I think I want to stand thru the standby line just like RSR so I can see all the cool stuff!

DO IT !

Indiana Jones Adventure is a absolute 'MUST DO' in every sense of the word.
I highly recommend riding several times...and at least once WITHOUT FastPass so you can traverse the FULL exterior and interior queue.
If you use FP or the Single Rider line you will miss half of the show within.
As Dr. Jones himself would say : "Trust me..!"

You absolutely must experience it 'the right way' ...and that means doing the whole queue wait. It is well worth the time spent in there.
Like another attraction all in itself!

The ride is beautifully designed and executed, stunningly detailed and utterly brilliant in every respect...and damn exciting ride experience to boot.
3 1/2 minutes of pure awesomeness beyond compare.
Nothing comes close.
Best of all, it is 300% better then our East Coast 'copy'..the paltry 'Dinosaur' attraction at DAK.
NO COMPARISON...only in the ride vehicles.

So YES....you must ride 'IJA'..by all means!
At least five times.
Well..maybe more.

I will let you decide.

:)

Yeah, I'm hoping to find a balance to catch the RSR wait at more like an hour or under. Maybe before it reaches the full 2 hrs. We'll figure it out or wait it out.

If you cannot secure FPs for 'Racers', and would rather not split up to do the attraction via the 'Single Rider' line, i would recommend waiting to ride later in the evening.
I have found the crowds to thin out and the wait is not nearly as long.
Timing it to coincide with a night show can work to your advantage, too.

I did Single Rider all the way when i was there last September, but rode later in the evening.
At that time i noticed that the Standby was not all that bad at the time ( 30 minutes )

Also, as long as you are in line for an attraction before the Park closes, the line will be cycled through and everyone will get to ride until they are in the clear.
Just don't wait until the last possible minute to jump in, as sometimes the Standby line is closed earlier.

I find the evening rides better, as the scenery really comes alive under the themed lighting and the outdoor racing is fantastic in the beautiful evening setting.
Daytime is nice too...i recommend doing both experiences if you can.
Well worth the effort!

@Figments Friend , have you experienced the air cannon effect recently? I haven't felt it since 2007 or 2008. I assumed it got turned off... I know it felt like I almost lost my hat once or twice when I got "hit".

And seconded... ride RSR at night! It is right up there with BTMRR, which I believe is a ride that most everyone agrees requires night and day rides.

@Cosmic Commando - Yes, at DL i have experienced the effect in question during my most recent visit this past September.
It could indeed blow your hat off...( or your fedora, as the case may be now..)
At WDW, i cannot remember experiencing this same effect for some time.
I do not remember it being as obvious either as it was felt at DL.

At DL it really surprised me in a great way and truly gave the impression of a cannon ball just blowing by barely missing the tip of my nose!
It was startling but awesome because it was done so well that you could believe you were actually in a crossfire between the fort and the ship.

When i return this May i will be looking forward to experiencing that nice little effect again.

I'm glad the effect is still alive... and I will be holding on to my hat next time I ride!

You see Indy feels so much longer then that, probably because I lived it…

I don't know, maybe it's because they immerse you right from the get go with the queue, but it never seems like a 3 and a half minute ride…always longer.

Oh absolutely...i agree. It does indeed seem like a much longer experience, and it IS when you consider the queue as part of the show ( which many of us like yourself do!).

I was talking about the actual ride itself...when you finally get loaded into your Transport, buckle in, and go from start to finish with wheels under you.
That experience is about 3 1/2 minutes, but what you get to experience during that dynamite 3 1/2 minutes is absolutely jaw dropping.
:)

I would say that half of the delight i get from that attraction is the pre-ride and post-ride experiences...for sure.
Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE every inch of this attraction - design wise.
Such a gorgeous setting...and detailing.

Egad...i need to become a archeologist.
Can i join one of your college classes, Dr. Jones...?

So I saw this post and my heart is now crushed... I'll be in DLR (for the 1st time) from 2/17 (but not a park day, coming in a little late) through 2/21.

Soarin closing 2/18 I can deal with... Been to WDW several times and love it there but the one that's killing the wife and I... Splash.

Man, that's a killer. I love that and I wasn't sure if it was an exact copy to WDW

Splash isn't the same as WDW. Or WDW isn't the same as DL since I think DL's was built first. ;) In fact, from what I hear, it's the 1 attraction that is noteably not so swooft out west. It's shorter and the story can feel disjointed is what I've read more than once. Don't fret. There's worse things that could be down. Like Indy or RSRs.

Don't worry, the general consensus is Disneyland's Splash is far inferior than Magic Kingdom's. You're not missing out on anything.

Splash Mountain at DL is the minor league version of Splash at WDW.

Pirates is just awesome at DL.

I was just reading on another site and someone was told by a CM while booking dining at Blue Bayou that the Pirates refurb was being pushed to April. They said its brand new info they just received so its not posted yet. Of course they didn't say when in April or for how long. I really hope this isn't the case. I really hope the end of April/first of May is okay.

While losing Pirates is a blow - honestly it won't hinder the rest of your trip. With DLR, there is so many times when something is down... or no fireworks due to wind... or just 101 for the afternoon, etc. Having ONE attraction on the refurb calendar is not bad.

The 'disney fan' in you will be hurt by not having POTC - but the 'Im on vacation' part of you won't miss it a bit. Riding it is more about seeing and experiencing the differences... honestly it doesn't make the ride any more fun/different... just more complete. The extra scenes near the end are the real value add IMO. The extra caverns are just killing time...

Fear not... Indy and Space Mountain are both due to be open.. and those are the true big E-Tickets you want to see in DL. SpaceMtn is an entirely different experience in DLR.

...and Indy just showed up on the refurb calendar for March. Hopefully it's an error or short one...
I'm hoping. We don't arrive until 4/27. I'm trying to stay optimistic. DHs work schedule is still okay but there's now a possibility of a conflict. We'll know as it gets closer. I'm just crossing my fingers for everything to go. :)

I hope it all works out well for you. We are breaking the WDW cycle and headed out west. There are some refurbs scheduled during our visit as well (May 29-June 10.) I think it's still going to be a great trip. We are slotted for 5 day park hoppers as well as plenty of pool/ beach time. Truth be told, if DLR is as wonderful as I keep reading we may upgrade to DLR AP's. WDW is losing some luster and Uncle Walt's park seems to still be doing it right. Airfare for us to Cali isn't much different than airfare to Orlando. My wife has been to DLR once, the rest of us will be rookies. Really excited about the trip!
