A couple of times during my 2 week birthday vacation a couple of times some guests thought I was a cast member. This has also happend on other Disney trips. I am not really sure why this happens, but I think it's neat :) This does not happen all the time, but it does happen.

I really am not sure why it happens. I don't wear any of those buttons that some guest wear that have their name on it. Sometimes I have my bookbag with some Disney Pins on it. Other times I might have a bag with some Disney dvds that I want the character to sign and other times I might carry around one of my dolls. Other times I don't have anything with me. Also during my birthday I do wear the birthday pins, but a lot of guest wear those. Also I have had guest who thought I was a cast member even when I did not have one of my birthday pins on me. On some of my birthday pins that I had during my last vacation I had "Tiny Tim" and on others I had "Tim". I have put "Flower" on one or more of my birthday pins from other birthday trips, but not during my last trip. Anyways I am really not sure why this happens to me, but I think it's funny :ROFLOL:

Since I know a lot about Disney a lot of times I just tell them where this is or where that is ect. and I don't even get around to telling them that I don't work here. Other times I might explain to them that I don't work here.

Anyways has any other guest had this happend to them?

I get mistaken as an employee in lots of places. In WDW it may or may not have anything to do with wearing a guest name tag, but it happens everywhere.

I guess I just look authoritative. :king:

I get mistaken for a photographer many times since I have my camera around my neck all the time at the parks.

some times they ask me questions and I try to help after explaining I am just a guest.

Two trips ago, I was in Once Upon a Toy wearing shorts and a tshirt (covered by my lanyard with pins, which was probably the issue) and a woman asked me were the restroom was. I said, "I have no idea," and she chuckled and looked at me weird. Then she said, "Oh, you don't work here?"

Very strange.

No matter where I go retail wise that is, i am asking asked for help. I always say I dont work here. Even in Disney it has happened to me twice. I can't figure it out. Sometimes it is so aggravating.

A few times in Movie stores I have helped people with suggestions but that is about all.

I was mistaken for a cast member once, in EPCOT. A person came up to me and asked some random question I can't remember and I told him I had no idea what the answer was. He gave me a dirty look and walked away.

After he walked off it dawned on me he must have thought I was a CM, but it didn't immediately register to me WHY he would have thought that, until I realized I was wearing a pin lanyard, and the previous day my wife and I both bought one of those name badges that look like the CM name badges.

Oops!

Now I always wonder when I read or hear stories about rude Cast Members if the person telling the story ran into someone they just mistook for a CM... ;)

I get that too.

Maybe because I am tall (6' 4") so I sort of stand out.

Grocery stores, Home Depot, all sorts of places.

I sold some woman a Keureg Coffee maker in Chef Central two weeks ago. I was looking at one and she started asking me questions. I happen to own one so I was answering them, she then said "well, you convinced me, I am going to get one". There was a store clerk standing nearby, and she offered me a job :)

I've been mistaken for an employee at Wal-Mart before. :(

Don't wear a red shirt and khakis to Target...

I've had guests ask me questions, but they knew I wasn't a CM. They were just so lost they were looking for anyone to point them the way. I usually end up pointing them towards the nearest CM.
