I got a free night for complining about Pop Warner

When I came back from our trip December 7th (I wrote a trip report in the trip report forum)....I emailed Disney to tell them how horrible the Pop Warner cheerleaders acted and the things that went on.....well, I got a phone call today from "MARIA" and she again asked me everything that had gone on, so I told her and she gave us a free night for 2 separate rooms (we had 2 rooms on our last trip [6 people])

I was very surprised! Im quite happy with that! :)

So, I hope those of you who had the same problems as we did also get a little compensation.

Must be nice. I wrote them like a 10 paragraph email and I have yet to hear from them. I don't even care if I get anything, I just want to know that they read it and give half a crap. It's funny because after the bad email I sent one complimenting the good CM's we encountered and I heard back on that one.

I wrote them one other time, it was years ago tho and I cant even remember what the complaint was (now I have to try and remember, it will bug me) they called me on that one too but I didn't get comped or anything, but that was OK! I wasn't looking for anything I just wanted to know that they DID read it and acknowledged it, that was perfectly fine with me....and it would have been fine this time too...I was very surprised when she did that, VERY surprised.

Disney response

I had a relatively minor complaint last year, wrote to Disney and was ultimately given some perks, including several sets of fastpasses for our group of 8, priority seating for fireworks and parades, etc. It was a nice touch.

You have to wonder if they do it like a lottery..."ok we have 50 complaints about "THIS", now pick 5 people and comp them." Because Im sure they cant give something to every person that complains, they would be giving stuff away 24/7 365 days a year.

...and I am happy for your luck. But I would encourage you to consider more radical action....

Offer the "offer" right back - if WDW will consider eliminating the actual problem. I know, it's two free nights. But it sure sounds like a bit of a "buy off" to avoid dealing with the real problem.... unless WDW billed PW for the whole thing (now THAT would be interesting....).

Oh yes, I have no illusion its a "ok, here, now shut up because they make us alot of money buy off"....of that I have no illusions. She said they are addressing the problem w/ pop warner but again, they make Disney a butt load of money, how much are they really gonna break their balls? In Disneys eyes, this will at least get us back for another trip and them giving us one night free is NOTHING compared to what Im going to spend....hey wait! Now Im getting ed off!!

I totally agree, Disney is afraid to ________ off any group.

So, what were the problems you encountered with the cheerleaders? Just curious. What went wrong?

Here is just a small part of what happened...I put it in my trip review: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=525479

There was so much more tho...they trashed bathrooms wherever they went, one girl walks up to my son and screamed in his face and then she ran off running with some girls that were a few tables away...somehow this was funny....then I saw them do it again to another little kid a day or two later. It just went on and on.....

No offense, but a free room or two to Disney means nothing. Disney now has you eatting out of their palm. This means now when you come back you have to spend money or tickets, food, souvenirs, all that jazz. The room IMO isn't that great of a deal. I personally would have asked for them to credit your stay.

Everytime I read stuff like this I get more and more infuriated with Disney. Blah blah blah, they're a company looking to make money, I know. But these pop warner teams have been causing problems at Disney for years. No reason to get into the crap they do, as we've been through it all before. I have no idea what Disney says to these groups (if anything), but year after year after year, it's the same story, and they keep on coming back.

I have to agree with you on this. That would mean more to me than a credit for my next vacation because it would help you now.

There is NO way on this earth do I believe that they would credit me for an entire trip...no way....I wouldn't even embarrass myself by asking for it.

We were going back anyway this November so to get two rooms for a free night is fine with me.....I never expected ANYTHING for sending the email, all I wanted was for them to acknowledge it. So, to get 2 rooms free....hey, ok with me, thankyouverymuch Disney.

Yeah, I emailed Pop Warner and they pretty much gave me a bunch of bs. Basically they told me to move my schedule around them and that they had plenty of adult supervision, which I think we all know wasn't true.

My wife got a response from Disney in which they are asking her to send them copies of our theme park tickets. I don't know what that's about but I'd be happy being comp'd for the Xmas party we were at where they let everyone run amuck.

I didn't mean for your entire stay, I ment for one night of your stay. But since you are going back anyway, this worked out for you. :)

As a Disney cast member, I have to highly disagree with this thread. At the parks they were fine. Every time one of them came to where I was working they were in groups no bigger then 7 and had a minimum of 1 parent if not 2.

Lucky you, try staying at the same resort...maybe we got "lucky" and had the bad group... it was pretty awful.

I have to agree with Kobe...
I've been going in early December for years.

Years ago, it was truly vacant...with the only guests seeming to speak with English accents...but with the advent of Pop Warner activities, (and probably with others discovering how empty it was) these weeks are fairly full. Pop guarantees thousands and thousands of paying customers during this down time...as does spring training in March and April, various other cheerleading events and I'm sure a number of other activities.

While some individual groups have caused problems, both that I have heard about and personally witnessed....I can say the same about many other groups throughout the year. I've dealt with the nuisance of a cheer squad bursting into some squealing cheer in hotel lobbies...but I don't hang in lobbies. I've seen packs of boys in football jerseys run through the park, running into people and being a general pain....but have seen other groups at other times of the year doing the same. Packs of unsupervised teens or pre-teens, again throughout the year, likewise with horrible "neighbors" in adjacent rooms.

It's just convenient this time of year to blame it all on Pop and cheerleaders. I don't let it bother me.
