I can't stand the abbreviations

Am I the only one that, no matter how long I'm on this site, I just can't remember all the abbreviations. It really sucks when someone is giving great advise, but the whole post is full of them and I just can't follow. Is it really that hard to type out Spaceship Earth?

Sorry, I'm sure I'm the only one.

No... You are not alone...

I'm probably guilty of it sometimes but I try to avoid.

For me the worst is when they are like I went to WDW during MVMCP with my DH, DS, DD and DSIL, we got on HM, POC, TETR, AFC, JC then I ate at PB, went and got a FP for SM. Then I talked to a CM who gave me a discount on my AP.

I usually give up on reading the post.

I mean I understand you don't want to type out Pirates of the Carribbean, but can't you just type Pirates..

I refuse to use DD and DS (dear daughter / dear son or sometimes darling instead of dear)

The one that really bugs me more than anything else is the whole DS, DD, DW, and DH crap that everyone uses.

DS, DD, DW, and DH are the worse! Good call there!

The whole DD, DS, DH thing annoys the hell out of me. I can pretty much decipher what people are talking about with the other abbreviations, but those just annoy me to no end.

Yes yes yes! It's time for the DPWAA (Dear Posters Who Are Annoyed) to unite and end world Dear-ing. It's time to spread some DDT over these threads!

just google the term and disney. it is kind of hard to write a quick response about multiple attractions or hotels and spell out everything when most of the terms are well known.

I feel like a big dummy! I thought DH, DS, etc. stood for Disney Husband, Disney Son, etc. Oh well, maybe it should! :ROFLOL:

u think this site is bad, try the military.

im with u , tho, i cant get half the abbreviations here either

Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? Because if it leaks to the VC, he could end up MIA. And then we'd all be put out in KP.

I learned them eventually. I don't think they're too bad when you consider every D usually stands for Disney and the hotels are pretty recognizable.

Is there a roundup of all the abbreviations on this site? If not, there should be.
or it could stand for dear or darling ad in dd (dear or darling daughter)

You mean Chicken versus Egg, don't you?
Nope. [So, is that an exbreviation? I expanded "No" to "Nope"]
Good one Monty!

Edit: But the only problem is that the "newbies" may get perturbed with not knowing all the lingo and just stop coming. I'm pretty sure that the goal of most forums is to accumulate members. Also, the more people here, the more great tips and stories.
I'm always willing to expand/explain should the question be asked, but realistically, 98%+ of posters here are regulars who understand. If you don't understand, ask. If you do, it saves a bit of typing.

It shows you where my train of thought lies,

When I see "D" the first thing I think of think of is Captain (D) as in the commander of a destroyer flotilla.

When I see "CB" I think of a companion of the order of the Bath, or a knighthood.

I really don't think the abbreviations are limited to wdwmagic. I'm pretty sure you'll see the same ones used on just about any Disney forum. I don't have time to visit other forums anymore but back in the day when I did I recall seeing a lot of acronyms and abbreviations being used. I'm stumped by some of them occassionaly but usually the context of the post makes it clear what they mean.

I'm with those of you who can't stand the use of DD, DS, DW, DH. I don't know why but it has always bothered me.

You seriously have to refer back to the guide every time? Most abbreviations are extremely obvious and regularly used. It should be no problem to quickly learn them. I have been here a while and I've only used the guide or asked a question less than a half a dozen times.

And everyone is always willing to nicely explain them.

you will see abbreviations on any internet forum regardless of the topic, jump in on a tech or sports one and you will be amazed.

This forum has accumulated MANY new members. As another person said, most of the people here visit other Disney forums where they all speak the same. Seriously? You're complaining because you joined a forum of people with a common interest who have made a SIMPLE way to abbr. things that you feel it's not worth your effort or time to attempt to learn so we should all adjust the way we speak to each other to make it simpler for you? I joined just a few months ago. I think I referred to the acronym guide MAYBE twice. It's not freakin' rocket science. I think it was good enough that a SIMPLE guide was made. If you aren't willing to look at it, then quit complaining. I wouldn't walk into a genetics conference without doing ANY research but expect the scientists to speak like 5yr olds.
