I CANCELLED MY DISNEY TRIP

We tend to fly Alaska religiously as much as we can. They have quite a few non-stops to MCO from Seattle. We especially love the redeye that gets us in by 6:00/7:00 am typically. After flying SW (no thank you, don't like lining up like cattle to fight for a seat), American (even though they partner with Alaska, they usually have horrible customer service), love Delta but they stopped OneWorld Alliance so there go miles, and not really a fan of United. We do like Virgin but they don't fly into MCO (but we did like them when we flew out of JFK) and they do partner with Alaska).

Hey…I looked it up and Seattle is NOT IN Alaska 😡

Where do you ski, out west? The slopes were really light this year in Vermont and New Hampshire. I didn't ski as much this year as I normally do, but I think the longest I waited for a lift this year was barely 5 minutes.
We ski Big Sky. Normally no lift lines but friends are telling me it’s the worst snow in years and the biggest crowds. Lift tickets were $58 and kids ski free when my kids were little, 25 years ago. Tickets are over $200 now. Our first choice hotel was $300 per night 5 or 6 years ago and they just went to $1000.

I lived in Colorado at one point and went skiing once. Never again. Apparently they strap what should be known as tree-seeking missles to your feet. No thanks.
I have never skied in my life or any desire to. A teenager a few towns over from me lost her life in a skiing accident when another skier ran head on into her. There are better chances for me to go straight down at 60mph at Blizzard Beach Summit Plummet but I still don't have the nerve to go on it yet.

It's funny... I went on a ski trip once when I was 14 at a mid-western resort, not real skiing in the mountains or anything. Under heavy peer pressure I got on to the lift up the "big hill" with everyone else. I stood at the top looking down, scared to death. Never having skied previously, I had no idea how to turn back and forth to slow myself down, so after a couple minutes of sheer terror, I sucked it up, pointed the front of the skis down, and turned myself into a human rocket. Luckily I didn't hit anyone on the way down, but I picked up so much speed that I went flying at least 150 ft past the stopping point at the bottom and flew right through the lift line. I've never tried it since. 🤣 Not sure how fast I was going, but I think somewhere around mach-1 is probably accurate because I'm sure I was screaming, but couldn't hear anything. 🤣

I think I know why my comment on April 3rd in this thread was deleted. I really am not happy that it was, but let me try explaining again with more context as to how what I said is pertinent to this thread. I said something to the effect that I am personally hearing from more and more people in my area who are revoking their support and visits to Disney due to the reasons outlined in the attached video in the first post on here as well as heavily due to the recent political moves by Disney (for those folks who object to what they're doing, including me).

I almost wrote a disclaimer in that original comment saying that I 100% did not intend to turn this thread into a political discussion (which is why I guess it was deleted out of fear of that happening). I still do not- but am simply making the totally relevant point that things have further worsened in terms of many people and families being dissuaded from coming to the parks and that Disney is willingly doing things to make that happen.

Ok, so I've been hearing that the parks are more crowded than ever before- so maybe at this time they aren't taking a hit. However, IMO, they are going to feel it more in the near future as many folks have been rescinding their support lately.

I'm simply making an objective point here. I'm not opening the door for people to debate whether revoked support by conservative families is warranted or not- I'm simply pointing out the fact that I know many are doing so!

(to the Mod: if this comment is going to be deleted again please kindly explain reasoning to me in DM)
You might not want this to spark a political debate but comments like yours have and will continue to push some over the edge and cause a political debate because some people cannot handle it.

Ok- I understand if that's the case. I just thought it was a very relevant factor that should be pointed out that is adding to the reasons dissuading many from coming to the parks.

I disagree. I know this is a popular sentiment on the internet, but I'm inclined to think this is a myth. At least for the time being.

It appears to me, that WDW is following in the footsteps of other businesses that have had major problems. It appears to me, that instead of appealing to MORE customers, they have decided to raise prices. Like they know they CAN'T find enough new customers, so they instead just try to get as much $ as possible from their existing customers.

WDW's latest commercial is REALLY telling. They used to always advertise a price. Something like, "A family of 4 can enjoy a 5-night WDW vacation for as little as $1000." NOW the commercial has no price, and - get this - when advertising their hotels, the ad actually ends with, "Disney hotels...why would you stay anywhere else?" That is such a tell, IMO. Like they are saying, "DO NOT LOOK AT the price of any offsite hotels. Just book WDW without pricing any other options."

Does anyone else remember the movie Brazil? When Michael Palin says "Trust me," while standing in front of a sign that says, "Who can you trust?" The ad reminded me of that. Omitting the price while saying it is a good deal = admitting the current pricing is terrible. The ad is called, "The Fun Never Stops," and features Dumbo.

Perhaps when the pandemic eases, the situation will improve, but...well right now a large portion of the population wouldn't dream of visiting a densely crowded place like WDW, especially if they have young children. Another portion of the population won't spend money on vacations until they feel their economic stability has recovered.
It's not a myth that when one person lost, four more will take their place.
Just look at the MOBBED parks. There are plenty of New and returning guests to keep the parks mobbed even when park pass reservations are needed.

IF RCID is ended, THEN there may be a problem in WDW, otherwise, don't worry DL and WDW will be fine.

I went to WDW in August 2020, now as many of us remember, there were cuts and some thought it was temporary.

Well it's clearly shown that things like park reservation, certain things never coming back, and whatever else are here to stay. It was a blessing and a curse that trip, I loved that there were nearly no crowds, but I didn't like how much Disney had changed. At that time I guess it was about $600 for 5 nights at pop, which now is probably double that price or more. Mind you, that also included magical express at the time.

I think as I said before, seeing Disneyland or an international park would be cooler at this point.

So WDW just released a massive hotel discount out of the goodness of their hearts? No, they did it because summer hotel bookings were dramatically low.

If your 4 to 1 is true, show us something to actually back that up.

Clean parks? Try the Tokyo parks. It is like day and night compared to WDW.
My goal is within two years to go to Tokyo Disney and have wanted to for a long time. Sure the flight is long, but the parks look to be far superior then what is offered in America. Sadly, when you look the prices, with the exception of airfare, staying a week at their parks is cheaper than going to WDW and staying in a monorail resort. I can't wait to go.
