I CANCELLED MY DISNEY TRIP

The nickel and diming is obnoxious, and we were on the verge of letting our APs lapse.

But all these threats of canceled vacations make us more excited at the possibility of a more relaxed visit, so I'm all for it.

I have been crazy about Disney World for many years. Our vacation with my family of 16 this past January was so busy and over crowded that no one wants to go back. I’d gladly pay double if they’d guarantee half as many people and clean parks.

That said, we go skiing every year but haven’t made it yet this season. We‘re hearing prices are skyrocketing for next year because crowds were beyond huge this year.

Clean parks? Try the Tokyo parks. It is like day and night compared to WDW.

Let’s just assume that logistically hoping a flight to Tokyo is somewhat impractical.
I'd say the ones who have a non stop 16 hour flight from the East Coast to Tokyo or back fared better than the hundreds of Southwest travelers stranded at Orlando MCO due to weather etc for several days trying to get back home recently after a vacation at WDW. Southwest is the last carrier I would fly even in good weather conditions.

I used to fly SW out of Philly all the time.

But since they bought AirTran they went straight down the tubes. They want $350 per leg to fly 1:55 to Orlando and you can’t get decent nonstop flights.

Nope. They “convenienced” and “low costed” themselves worse than United or American

I'd put Spirit, Frontier, Allegiant, and JetBlue ahead of Southwest as to carriers I would avoid first.

My preferences in order:
1 - American
2 - United
3 - Delta
4 - (Drive to Disney)
5 - Southwest
6 - (Walk to Disney)
7 - Allegiant
8 - JetBlue
9 - Spirit
10 - Frontier

Spirit isn’t even an option. Hard stop.

JetBlue talks a big game…but they cancel more than they fly.

I’ve always had a good experience with frontier…even though they are flawed and many complaints are out there. They offer nice options in my market (3 airports within an hour)
But they’re buying Spirit…which means they will be useless within 2 years.

Allegiant is kinda the old folks airline…for people that are flying but have nothing to do when they get there:..the slow drive from Sanford

American & United don't offer nonstop flights from the 3 airports surrounding me. Delta does from CVG, Southwest offers non stop for the same or more than Delta. But that is compared to Delta Main Cabin that allows seat selection. All others don't have daily flights, and won't risk being stuck somewhere for days.

And you didn't wave when driving by. Lol

I've never been a fan of any of the discount carriers, just never found them to be really discounted. Talk about nickel and diming

I haven't had any issues with American, they seem to have the most direct flights our of Philly and laquardia

Basically I'll fly anyone who has a direct flight for where I want to go. I wonder if its an USA carrier issue. I took Iceland air in February and it was heaven

Not having a non-stop flight is not a big deal for me and American has daily flights to and from Orlando to Louisville, KY.

I once connected in Newark NJ and counted 8 UA non stop flights from EWR to MCO in one day. Must be a popular route to Orlando. Miss your early morning flight? United may book you on many others non stops that day. Flying into Newark is sweet, you get a close up view of the gorgeous NYC skyline.

I am flying with American this next time. Probably our last flight for a long time so we splurged on first class seats. We have a layover in Charlotte-Douglas but it is only 35 minutes. We fly out of Louisville, KY at 5:20am and get into Tampa at 8:50am. This flight for American typically has an early arrival time of 10-15 minutes so our layover could be as much as 45-50 minutes with a Tampa arrival time of maybe 8:35am. Getting in that early means that not having a non-stop for us is no big deal. Don't get me wrong, 15 years ago we flew on SW with a non-stop flight and I thought that was awesome but those flights are farther and fewer these days and SW is turning into garbage with too many of the "I'll kick your *** for even looking at me" crowd. I don't want to have to beat the brakes off someone and meet the police at the terminal.

Yeah but Newark is United’s main hub. That’s an extreme.

Here’s what I’ll give for an example. In the 1990s USAir flew 11 nonstops to Orlando per day…from Pittsburgh

Where do you ski, out west? The slopes were really light this year in Vermont and New Hampshire. I didn't ski as much this year as I normally do, but I think the longest I waited for a lift this year was barely 5 minutes.

American didn't show me nonstop from Louisville earlier. Maybe I picked too soon in future and they didn't show full.
I'm halfway between IND and Louisville, CVG is an extra 20 minute drive.
DH refuses to deal with stop flights.

Sorry, I didn't mean AA has non-stop flights daily. That might be nice. I just meant that they have daily flights to Orlando (and Tampa). Almost all of their flights seem to layover in CLT.
