I CANCELLED MY DISNEY TRIP

So WDW just released a massive hotel discount out of the goodness of their hearts? No, they did it because summer hotel bookings were dramatically low.

If your 4 to 1 is true, show us something to actually back that up.

Disney has always, always given hotel discounts for the summer and what massive, they are the same discounts. and actually they're making it a bit harder, you have to be a Disney plus subscriber to get the discounts. I also thought it was a bit baffling because Wilderness Lodge is only getting a 10% discount. It use to be considered a deluxe resort and offer was 25% off.

All other discounts end July 7th and again those were the normal passholder and military discounts.

where did you hear about these massive discounts, i know a few folks who want to go and are looking into renting dvc points.

They’ve typically run promotions at all times…least so in the summer and Christmas.

Careful here, Don’t drift out of the lane defending what isn’t the reality.

I think the suspicion is they are trying to eliminate discounts - permanently - and are manipulating staff and offerings to “maintain demand” in the parks.

I don’t know about that…but it quacks and waddles to me…in my “semi-educated” guess

absolutely not correct. I have ALWAYS booked the end of August into september with 25% off. Isn't that considered summer? We use our dvc points and my parents who only stay at the GF get a room. Never in the last trips have we not had a discount.

LOL reality? sorry dude I've got receipts from credit cards. if that ain't real than nothing is

Now whether or not they are trying to get rid of discounts, I have no idea nor do I care but this inference that they are giving discounts in the summer is definitely alternate reality.

Have not idea what the duck analogy means so can't play with that

I totally agree with his video. I had a convention in Orlando back in June. The convention was at Gaylord Palms so we stayed their. I took my adult son and his fiancé along with my wife. We went to Epcot and Hollywood studios, then went to Universal for 2 days. For the money, Universal is outpacing Disney as far as experience. We enjoyed Uni so much, we went back in October for HHN!!

That's good you enjoyed Halloween Horror Nights , however that's not my style. Back in the day I went and I got tired of being chased by Leatherface with his chainsaw down the street.

Don't worry it will get that mobbed. Folks have already forgotten the Figment popcorn bucket MOBS
And its JUST a pop corn bucket:
Good thing we have park pass reservations :)

What the heck? I've been staying away from this and the DVC forum or any WDW-related news for that matter in a failed attempt to keep myself from being too jaded and negative in advance of our WDW trip, but is that photo really of people lining up for popcorn buckets? And if legit, when did that take place? 😮

I don't know and it cannot be corroborated that the pictured folks are in fact jammed in for Figment Popcorn buckets, but at least it is a much more recent photo as folks are wearing COVID face coverings.

The photos that I saw of the line did not span the entire walkway but wrapped around a four foot wide by 1,000 feet long (okay that might be an exaggeration) strip. The wait took hours if you could get one.

The parks have been very busy and the lines long. I keep waiting to see if the bubble pops but it hasn't happened yet.

August 15 is the slow season because most of the region goes back to school 8/1.

It is maybe the most slow time of the year other than mid September.

Gotta get out of the northeast more 😎

LOL. LOL. LOL. LOL.

Do a bit of research on it. Or better yet: how many people do you know go out of town on vacation the last week of august?

Answer: no one even from your area. Shore time, kid.

Lol

There are locations through out the parks where there is periodic congestion due to artificially created bottle necks caused buy the decorative (cough, cough) construction walls. Periodic traffic congestion does not equal crowded or "mobbed".

That region doesn't go back Aug 1st either. Somewhere in between. We run similar schedules here compared to them. Plus they aren't the only ones traveling. Though a lot do avoid during hurricane season and high humidity too.

That wasn’t my point. “Summer” travel diminishes significantly after July…by the day. Spike perhaps for a couple days around Labor Day.

It’s 97 degrees everyday in Orlando in late august. To each their own…but most chose “something else”

Some pockets have more travel flex during that time…new York and north particularly…but the demand is way less than the two months prior.

I would rather be in Vegas and I was in August in the dry heat of 120 degrees. The 97 temp heat and humidity in August in Orlando is downright oppressive.
