Yeah but no one (i.e. NHC) has confirmed it's made landfall. Likely waiting till it hits Port Charlotte proper. It’s been over Sanibel island for a while now. That’s land.
Landfall is when the center of the eye hits the mainland.
Not only that, but the declaration is made by the National Hurricane Center. Anyone telling you landfall has occurred before the NHC is talking out of their behind, including clickbait meteorologists.
There is ZERO journalistic value to putting lives on the line like this. Park a camera wherever you want to park a camera, and then offer commentary from behind a desk in a safe building.Jim has one on too...
Was Friday available previously?
Considering the time of year, I'd assume so, but I don't know. I'm not one that randomly checks. Was Friday available previously?
That's the technical definition, but IMO, landfall happens when the first main bands come ashore.I didn’t know that, thanks!
I do not see them being open a full day on Friday. If they get open I bet it will be late and for resort guests only.Considering the time of year, I'd assume so, but I don't know. I'm not one that randomly checks.
Currently Friday is expected to be open for those with reservations - damage and clean up allowing.I do not see them being open a full day on Friday. If they get open I bet it will be late and for resort guests only.
That is what I was referring to. Water coming into from being blown up against the door not from flooding, rising water. But that could happen as well but not on upper floors. No there have been multiple trip reports from people staying at WDW during recent hurricanes/tropical storms where their rooms got massive amounts of water in through the door. Whether or not it’s considered flooded I don’t know. But water does come in.
I don’t put a lot of stock in not losing power because it’s underground. Better chance of not losing power? I guess but I have underground here in PA and every winter it goes out a few times during storms. Occasionally during wind and rain storms also. Have no idea why. From what I have heard they have a considerable amount of infrastructure underground. Still I would bet they will lose it at some point.
Surprising that it seems their decision making progress is moving at light speed. It showed availability about an hour ago.

Not good.
Speak for yourself - I had a degree in meteorology before all this kicked off!Hey now! Within the past two years or so we have all become election experts, engineers, epidemiologists, and now we just got degrees in meteorology.
