Hurricane Ian expected to impact Florida (updates and related discussions)

I'm guessing there are lots of discussions going on about what time to pull the plug on Wednesday. Pre-emptively close all day, or something like close at 2PM.

No official announcements have been made yet, have they? Seems like it's only in the past hour, according to Twitter that the Ft. Wilderness stuff has started. But only tent campers so far that can "talk" about moving. Everyone else, just stow their outside stuff.

That seems like a slow walk to me. Reviewing Irma again, it looks like WDW told them 2 days in advance on Thursday, that the campground would be closing on 2PM Saturday. Which is the news I would be expecting to hear now, for a similar timeline. I hope WDW isn't playing with fire here.
Yeah. I moved up AK from Wed. to Tues. i have a throwaway park reservation for MK now on Wed. Either I use it or I don't.

I feel so sorry for anyone who lives, has relatives or property in the Tampa Bay Area. I can’t imagine how I would feel, stay safe, follow the recommendations of the local authorities and protect your lives and property as best you can.
I still haven't heard from my son. He said he would let me know when he leaves Tampa, but it could be this evening or early tomorrow morning. He filled up his car and got supplies this weekend, and knows that it may take him 3-4X as long to make the usually 3 hr drive.

Impossible! That would interfere with the path of the subway system.
You see that arch near the top? It opens up like the S&D does for the monorail so the subway can pass right through after a slight delay.. Those imagineers thought of everything

I'm really glad that I started reading this thread *after* I bought the last seat on the last nonstop flight from TPA to Boston today to get my daughter home in advance of the storm. I would be 100% flipping out if she was stuck there. Although we did have a plan B, thanks to good friends of ours who live in Jacksonville that would have picked her up if need be. Friends who we met through this website, nearly 14 years ago.

I hope he's ok, Marcia. 🙏

10" or more of rain coupled with a 5-10' storm surge in the Tampa bay area is a recipe for death for anyone foolish enough to stay. Hurricane Hugo Cat 4 we had a 17' storm surge which resulted in 5' of seawater in our house and we were miles from the ocean. We thank god left that afternoon just before it hit and went inland. If your in Tampa bay and they say evacuate please do

That's correctly putting it. Some don't want do hear reality.

Folks that rain map is now way off, with it crisscrossing the peninsula there will be increased amounts near the eye, that map was based on a side swipe.

Not looking good appears its will hang off the coast 2pm Wed to 2 pm Thursday as a major storm before making land fall. As flat as FL all that rain has no place to go.

Hear me out, if it keeps going east that is a good thing for Tampa as the water won’t be pushed into the bay and cause a massive storm surge.
