Thinking of going there next year when we go back for our anniversary. We've eaten at Park Fare and it was nice. So, how is GF Cafe?

Before we bought into DVC we stayed at the Grand Flo (on their Grand Plan).

The Cafe is very good and has a diverse menu. We try to eat there every few years. When we first visited the GF, the Cafe hosted the character breakfasts before they moved them to the Park Fare.

You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I love it; in fact, we'll be at WDW the week after next, and that's the place I chose for my birthday dinner. We've never had a bad meal there, and I love the ambience of the place; very light and airy. I've seen reviews that call the food so-so, but honestly, we've never found that to be true. It's not fancy--just good food, and the service is great. I try different things and have liked everything. My husband usually gets a steak and it's always done to his satisfaction.

A co-worker of mine has also dined there and raves about it, too. So there's two yes votes for you!

I liked it as well - the decor is really inviting and the food was yum. My mouth still waters when I recall the home made potato chips that came to the table warm. MMmmmmmmmm.

very enjoyable....

We've only eaten there for breakfast one time but we enjoyed it so much we're planning on returning there next year. The atmosphere is calm and lovely. The food was delicious. What more can I say? :)

Let me join the chorus of members singing the praises of the GFC. This has alwas been a place we have chosen to escape to on MK days for a quiet meal and a break from the crowds. We have only eaten lunch here but each time has been pleasant. Servers are always attentive and kind and the food is quite good, in my opinion. I do think that it is not up to the standard of what we may have had the first few years we went there but then again, what restaurant at WDW is??

When we last visited last fall, I chose to leave this one off the itinerary and replaced it with another option that I don't recall, all in the name of trying something new. What I do remember is that in the end, we all wished I had left that one off and stuck with the GFC.

My party and I had the best service and wonderful food the last time we went there (May 2010) for some appetizers and Bloody Mary's before heading back to MK!

It's not as elaborately themed as some of the other WDW restaurants, nor is it a character dining experience. But we ate there our last trip, for lunch, on a day we were spending at MK. Worked out great, a nice break in the day, not nearly as busy as a restaurant in the park would have been, full OR counter service. In fact, because it's not elaborately themed or a character meal, I suspect it's often overlooked or forgotten by people desperate to find "Disney magic" everywhere. I'm OK with having a nice meal and THEN go back to the parks while everyone else is either wondering why they're waiting so long for a table when they have reservations, hoping like hell someone cancels a reservation, or hovering with their food around a QSR hoping someone's about to leave their table so they can call dibs.

This may be just my perception, but it seemed like Kona Cafe in the Poly was comparable in that regard - very good food, decent price, but because it didn't have Disney whimsy up the ying-yang it wasn't as packed as a Chef Mickey's, an Ohana's or a Park Fare might be. GFC, Kona, and Turf Club are three of my go-to restaurants, the places where you still have a decent shot at getting reservations when all other places are booked solid, yet you won't feel like you're settling.

I didn't even know about this restaraunt until our April trip. We decided to try something different on that trip and just not book any ADRs (except Crystal Palace breakfast, and Jiko with some friends we me up with). I thought it would be nice to try a little mystery as to where we would end up eating, and just make our ADRs as we went once we got there. It ended up working out, although there was a couple days that I was worried that I wasn't gonna find a thing. But for one night, I was asking about something in the Magic Kingdom or on the monorail loop and this was the only thing that they had. I had never heard of it before, but decided to give it a shot. We really enjoyed it. Good food, good atmosphere. The only thing I didn't like about that evening is that I wanted to hop into the Magic Kingdom for an hour or two after supper, but right after we were done eating, I went to the restroom and came back out to find that it was raining cats and dogs outside.

So ya, try the GF Cafe. I doubt that you'll be disappointed.

btw, just a little side note about our ADR strategy; we're going April 4-14 next year, during peak Easter Season. I just barely managed to squeak by last time during "Regular season" without having ADRs in advance, so I don't think I'll be trying that strategy this time around. I may be eating sandwiches out in the grass if I were to try that this time around.

It is good! Big menu, great food, and you can usually always get in with out ADR's. Of course, I always recommend making the ADR's but we have never needed one.

I love the cafe great food and I think you get some of the best service anywhere in WDW the staff are always great. I remember one time asking the waitress about a type of mash on the menu to see if i would like it, she went to the kitchen and got a small dish of the mash for me to try before I ordered, thats why we go every trip.

Nevermind...I can see in your sig now...We have not decided if we are going in the beginning of May or the end of May. Wanna do the beginning because we have a bunch of friends going for the first time...However if we go at the end we will have free dining. We will probably only use the QS plan this time though.

Yeah, we'll upgrade this time, since its for our anniversary. We want to see for ourselves how good signature dining is :D.
