How do you help a trouble-stricken family get to the WDW?

Okay, I know I don't post on here that much but, I have a big question for our awesome fan community. How do you send a family with a terminally ill father to the world? I've tried to find a charity group but, have been unsuccessful.

To elaborate, a local family around here (in Desoto, Kansas) was given some terrible news. The father of the family, who had overcome cancer before, has been given 6 months to live with colon cancer. :(He has 4 children and they've never been to WDW. A lot of people are trying to help this family out. I was asked how do we get them to WDW. As of right now, all I can say is IDK.

Any help is incredibly appreciated!

I recently looked at a thread that mentioned something called "Make a Memory", similar to Make a Wish. It involved someone else who is terminally ill.

If it weren't for the fact that you said they were in Kansas, I'd think you were talking about my friend, her husband (also sick with stage 4 colon cancer) and their 4 children, here in Middleton, Wisconsin. They leave for Disney the same day we do, October 23. They have planned for this vacation for the last year (I think I helped talk them into it) and he got the diagnosis about 5 weeks ago.

How do you have fun, knowing it might be the last family vacation you take? I pray for any family going through something as tragic as this...

Good luck in sending that family to the happiest place on earth, to forget about reality for a little while...

Dreams Come True and Make a Wish are two other charities that can help. (I'm familiar with Dreams Come True, and know the one near me is completely legit, as I was in a position to follow the money, as it were. ;))

I'm sorry- I thought it was a child. But perhaps one of the children's charities could steer you towards one for adults, even though they're pretty rare.

A local lawyer may be able to help you, pro bono, set up a foundating to set up donations for such an endeavor.

If they're members of a local church, you may want to see if that church has an organization to help.

You may also want to call Disney & get a price quote for their trip. This way, you can have a number in mind when it comes to setting up the trip.

Good luck, it's an incredibly kind gesture to try to make that happen.

I am a Tupperware consultant and have used our fundraiser program to help a family in need many of times. You can recieve 40% profit form the fundraiser line of products. If this is something that might work for you can pm me so that I could help you get in touch with someone in your area. Hope that helps!

Thank you everyone for the information. I really appreciate it. (and of course the family, if they knew about it, would thank you too!)
