Well the show that its replacing isnt cutting it, Its not bringing people in. So replace it with something that will bring people in. Make the turnstyles turn, more foot traffic. That makes perfect sense.

And you think an old film featuring a dead pop star is just the thing to do that?

So your now attributing DLs increased attendance to this old film?

Id say any future appearance of said attraction around the world will be more to do with the cost than anything else. Or perhaps I have imagined Disney management style of the last few years.

I'm not sure how it's affected overall park attendance, but it's bringing huge crowds into the Magic Eye Theater (whereas before you had maybe a handful of people show up for a showing of HISTA.) Also keep in mind that Disney hasn't done anything to promote EO - no commercials/ads anywhere. Basically just online announcements and word-of-mouth.

As I understand it DLs core guest is a local, its not too far a jump to say that any change is going to have an initial interest if you are a regular.

I cant imagine a similar low key approach would produce any increase in attendance to that area of Epcot. Thats why I think its motivation is just a cheap way for Disney management to counter arguments against their current cheapskate approach to updating the parks.

and is it REALLY costing them that much more money? if you don't like it, go ride TT again. i would say 75% of the guest will wanna see it, and even if it was 20%, doesn't that mean less people at other attractions to help balance out the lines? i saw captain eo when i was younger and i loved it. i saw HISTA when i was younger and loved it. i saw it last year and it was BORING. at least i get to see a legend because as far as i'm concerned, who's rick moranis? so MJ is not for you, but do you not ride aerosmith because you don't like their music? i know i may not enjoy seeing eo as much as i did when i was a kid, but any satisfaction i get out of it will be better than HISTA. some people de-test it for they want a new attraction, yet some of those people would go ape ____!t if horizon's came back. honestly, it doesn't matter to you OR me, because wdw will still turn a buck. regardless, i'll take the new attraction.

Exactly. Some people like to argue for the sakes of arguing. Some people try to claim their opinion is "correct" without providing proof to back up their claim. Just ignore this individual. They'll shut up when no one is paying attention.

Even though I don't I would rather have people avoid the pavilion like the plague that way with nobody going TDO would be forced to overhaul JII!!

It seems like that most of the people that want to see it are the ones that have never seen it. Which is fine, but the excitement for it will not last very long. I just wish they would bring something new in, not something that already flamed out.

I can't speak for others but I personally feel like bringing back EO is more a step backward than forward. EPCOT was meant to be a city/community of tomorrow. Even if I personally don't care for HISTA or EO, I'm not knocking those who liked it or want to see it for the first time. I'm only stating that this location doesn't feel right to me. I can appreciate that it's seen as a tribute by some and obviously if Captain EO had been played by a no-name actor this would never be a thought in anyone's mind. Wouldn't a better fit for a retro shout-out or tribute to an artist of the past be better placed at DHS or something?

Uhm ya. Why wouldn't it? Even if it doesnt "bring people in." It should cause more people to be in that dead area of the park, esp more so than HISTA. And the bad part is????????????????????????????????

No trips in the near future, so 'OTHER' for me...

I don't really enjoy HISTA anymore, so anything new is a plus. Just good to see it's not going to be an empty theater.

The bad part is the potential to fuel more "retro" fixes, we all know surveys can be constructed to give the answers we want, and we are seeing it with this. Honest its popular in DL so as a caring company we are going to roll out a bloody old film across all of our parks, its what you the guest wants rather than those fancy expensive new attractions or what was a nightly firework show.

I have no hesitation in saying that as far as my trip goes is all that this is doing is giving me one less place to visit in Epcot and with all the shuttered areas across property thats not exactly something new, its the potential for more "walmarting" that I'm bothered about.

Sorry if expressing an opinion in a coherent way upsets the obsessed and ubber fans.

its not that your message was "coherent", its the to the point that if you don't like it, we AND wdw don't care. if you don't like dole whips, are you going to skip adventureland? will wdw go bankrupt? we are not telling you your opinion is wrong, you just are the most aggressive on the board protesting against bringing back EO. i'm in favor of new stuff too, but i sure as hell will take anything over HISTA. if they replaced HISTA with mr toad, i'm sure you would be there in a second even though it is "retro". as far as having one less thing to do in epcot, shouldn't you be blaming HISTA for that and not EO?

I have never seen Captain EO. So I guess if it is still there when I get back to WDW then I will go to see it once. Once will be enough though.

The part that bothers me is that HISTA will return afterwards.

HISTA returning shows little interest in refurbing the pavilion. Not having happy thoughts about EPCOT'S 30 th Anniversary anymore. Thought that this pavilion was going to get the upgrade / refurb for the anniversary even if nothing else happened.

Sweetpea I think it was had the better idea. Should have been put into the sounds dangerous area in DHS or somewhere in DHS.

Now I feel EPCOT will get the short end of the stick again!

Be prepared for an other retro pamplet, fancy button and small tag on Illuminations party again! No happy thoughts anymore sob...

I find the "it's outdated and doesn't belong in EC" option funny since Epcot Center itself is outdated.

I'm ecstatic EO is coming back. Nuff said.

Its not like you were going to be in that area anyway lol. Probably you, and the rest of the people who visit epcot. But now, you will be one of a few who wont be in that area. Not saying everybody's gonna go to it, but the majority of people will. With HISTA there, its just a dead area.

A lot of yall sound like someone's gonna make you watch the show. Like you have no choice but to watch it. Well, less line for me, as well as the majority of epcot visitors. And good job for expressing your opinion coherently. You arent the only one who's coherent.
