Well, I am not a MJ fan and I have no nostalgic connection to the Captain EO movie so I am not excited. I am ok with anything that would bring more attention to the pavillion, though.

As a kid I enjoyed watching it so I am excited about sharing the show with my kids. I feel the same way about the Main Street Electical Parade.

I like Captain EO, sick of HISTA, welcome change. If it's this or more HISTA i pick. Captain EO. Sure something completely new would be best but this in my opinion is better then nothing.

I would rather have them totally destroy the Imagination Pavilion in it's sad state. The entire thing needs a total rebuild after what they did in 99'.

EO is what I hope will get rid of Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Many more people identify with Michael Jackson than HISTH, however EO didn't really ever fit into the Imagination Pavilion concept, they need something new and original.

Which this is not.

Liked him when he was a boy....hated him when he became an ugly white girl......I can't get the ugly white girl out of my mind when I think of him.

I'll leave my personal opinions of MJ out of this and just focus on the attraction. Since I've never seen it, I will go see it out of curiosity when it's running on one of my next trips. If they'd have decided NOT to bring it back to WDW, I wouldn't have lost any sleep.

A lot of people who are stoked for seeing EO who have never seen it before will be hugely disappointed.

And those that have seen it will be disappointed as well b/c the memory of it is better than the actual show.

Compared to what we have now (Shrunk/Audience, Tough/Bug, & Philharmagic), EO is severly lacking in all categories. It isn't immersive and its effects are very poor. It stars a deceased popular pop icon, yes, but its just bizarre on so many levels.

Anjelica Houston's character/role is better than MJs.

I just booked a bounce back (I am sitting in my Hotel, properly sunburned) for November so that my kid can see the show. No I didn't plan a trip around the return of EO, however it definetly gave me reason to come back.

How was the Bounceback rate this go around?

Amen!

If you have never seen Eo, set your expectations very, very low. Now lower them.

Lower still.

Do an expectation limbo.

Are your expectations as low as you can go?

Good, now go watch it on You Tube. I'll wait....

Oh, you're back. Worse than you ever imagined, wasn't it?

I can't believe people are looking forward to this. I just re-watched it the other day to see if it was better than I remembered. It was worse. I know nostalgia is powerful, but what's with the misplace nostalgia? This show is an atrocity!

I agree, she's so friggin cool. And such stark contrast to the cheesiness of the rest of the film.

IMO about EO, its just so cheesy though even for its time. Here's a couple reasons why:

1. The supreme leader orders MJ's crew to be turned into trash cans. ?! I guess they were trying to not be too scary for kids but that's seriously random and bizaare.

2. The whole plot about turning evil to good through the power of music. Oh brother, that's really cheesy even for the 80s.

Agreed! MJ is a terrible actor and the whole movie wreaks of 80's cliche. I skimmed over the youtube video just now and OMG it was awful. :brick:

I don't care how dated HISTA is, it beats EO hands down in every way. Captain EO is an atrocity and should not be rescreened anywhere.

Um no, it's what I expected it to be. A fun music video from the 80s with muppets and Ms. Houston with amusingly long fingernails. I enjoy 80s (and earlier) fantasy /ci-fi because of the approach to creating visuals without the aid of computers. Not that computers aren't great, but its more fun to see an eclectic mix of robots/puppets, makeup work and good old fashioned set building IMO than another "virtual" reality.

I saw it before Youtube long before any rumored return was mentioned out of curiosity.

Lots of things are "bad" from that decade, but beloved. Transfromers, My Little Pony, Care Bares, basically anything aimed at kids.

Nostalgia is personal and sometimes, non existent. What of the kids today who watch Labyrinth or are the ones making sure EO is packed on AP block out dates? Point is, you can't really argue for it begin "unwanted" because its all up to the individual. We heard you and others the first 100 times, you never liked EO, but with the sentence in bold your just coming off as desperate to convince those who do have nostalgia for it that it's awful.

Maybe nostalgia can't be judged by a pan and scan, 2-D copy of a 3-D theme park attraction. Maybe its all the in-theatre effects and seeing it on a big screen? Maybe it relates to someone's first trip to WDW?

On a different note, You want stupid power logic? How about the kid from Captain Planet who's ring was the power of "Heart"? Now that's lame.

Finally were there any "I'll eat my hat" comments from anyone regarding the show's return to WDW? If there was I want to see some hat eating on July 2nd. :slurp:

So much for the American justice system....he was proven innocent....why can't people move on?

So was OJ....but you're hard pressed to find a majority of people that think he didn't kill his wife...

Seriously, irrespective of Jacko's brilliant escapes from conviction, the fact of the matter is that he was accused a number of times. There was enough smoke there for me to feel VERY VERY angry with Disney for bringing back EO.

What kind of message does that send parents of young children (disney's most significant demographic)? Seriously....who cares whether he was convicted or not...

what's next? An OJ Simpson attraction to replace Ellen's painful attraction at the Energy Pavilion? How about a Phil Spector themed Rock n Roller Coaster, since Aerosmith seems to be in turmoil? I know!! Roman Polanski's Neverland club at the Poly!!!!!

Seriously....I am outraged and incensed about EO returning. Its the most disgusting thing that TDO has ever done, IMHO...and as a passholder and a DVC owner, I am writing a scathing letter that will be CCed to as many responsible decision makers as I can find at Disney....
