How could Disney Enhance the Bus Ride experience

The buses don't bother me. The crowds bother me. When 1,000 people rush to get to their appropriate bus after Illuminations, it's not the bus ride that bothers me, it's the sweaty guy or gal who don't believe in deodorant who keep bumping into me on every turn that bothers me.

So remove the crowds and the bus ride to and from the resort will be just grand. :D

I'm sure they're warming up a spot for me as a bus driver right now. Then I can finally be that proverbial bus driver with all of the rumors...

Are you collecting social security? I thought that was part of requirements to be a disney bus driver.

Which is why we wait long enough afterwords that the CM are doing their sweep to get guests out of the park.

Agree 100%! The worst part of the day is having my nose in someone's armpit on the bus....especially if deodorant is against their religion.

How about moving to the back of the bus? After a park closing and you are waiting in line tired and cranky and then people refuse to fill in all available space?? Now you have to watch a partially filled bus pull away because nobody wants make room and you are left standing waiting for another 20 minutes for another bus. :brick: How many times is it the same people that are complaining about others not making room for them?

Passengers can make the bus ride so much more enjoyable just by thinking of other people around them.

Haven't read this thread, but I actually rather like the buses at WDW. They're comfortable. They're A/C'd when it's hot. They play music (most of them) themed to wherever you're headed. Plus, I enjoy looking around Disney property. They're almost always clean, except for the occasional slob who was raised in a barn. There's no foul odor to speak of. And I love the announcements made by the new audio system they put in a couple years back.

If I could change anything about them it would be this:

1.Sharing of buses by resorts. That gets irritating, especially if you have to stand.

2.Non-direct routes. Sometimes you just want to get back to your resort or to the park, but the buses have to make a stop at a water park first.

Both of those things are clearly financial moves on Disney's part, so it's understandable. Other than that, the bus experience at Disney is just fine by me.

More buses, or some sort of direct transport, would indeed be a big help.

ewww smelly yuck...can't argue with you there lol. the advantage to all adult trips is to just sit down, have a drink and wait for the lines to thin out. traveling with kids i think we're doomed to the scenario you describe above (sigh).

Exactly, they could try to play with smaller buses and also bendy buses. With the different needs that the disney transportation system has, it should use many different types and sizes of vehicles.

A two person Segway, perhaps? Private tours around World Drive, all while you're snuggled up close to a CM you've never met before.

Add a jump rope and roller skates and you can have a Segway train! (one that you can cover with Tron themed art when the movie is released)

I could care less how "themed" they are as long as they run frequently and efficiently. If they get me to the park (or wherever my destination happens to be) in a timely fashion, I'm more than happy.

That's what I'm sayin'! However, I do remember before 9-11 when the drivers were not separated/protected from the passengers by the "wall" there was lots of interaction between driver and passengers with Disney info and trivia being passed along to guests. I think it made the trips seem much quicker and more pleasant.

If you're on property, you're going to ride Disney buses. In my experience, those bus rides are probably the least Disney-esque part of being at WDW. Anyone have any ideas as to how they could spruce them up, either thematically or in any other way, to make them less of a drag?

always had a bus driver that got the people singing or playing triva games sometimes you didn't want to get off the bus:):)http://forums.wdwmagic.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Several of the things people have suggested just aren't practical with the WDW system.
Double Decker buses? I don't think they would fit under the water bridges. Not to mention most of the entrance plazas, overhanging trees, etc.
GPS tracking of the buses? Disney does seem to have this in place for their internal purposes. But giving this to public wouldn't work well. WDW reroutes buses all the time. So a bus that had been planning on going to MK gets sent to AK, that messes up all the tracking someone had been doing.
Special music? Each route already has a different playlist set to your destination.
Interactive drivers? As much as I do miss the ones that used to do this, it is a safety hazard. If a bus was to crash and the driver was distracted because he was trying to think of the next trivia question, it's not good.

Disney hiring anyone from a fansite, anyone knew if that ever happened?

The guy who runs the Disney Experience website was contracted to do some work for Disney designing paper models and the like.

The ultimate would be to have Stacy from the WDW TV be my personal bus attendant. That would complete the bus experience for me...lol

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Best. Idea. EVER.

Where did Stacy go anyway? It's amazing, she probably has the largest fan club of anything anywhere in the universe, yet very few people outside of us know who she is.
