like i said, who knows how true this is.
who knows how true any of this is really.

i'm also curious about the empty stages.
then again, i'd also like to see "Hunchback" come back.... but thats never going to happen.

I will hold a good thought for you since you like the shows. But I personally think twenty years is a VERY good run for stage shows. I think now would be a good time to showcase some other great music, storytelling, and talent...

Wait a minute!!!!! You're actually comparing Tom Hanks...who's biggest acheivements were Turner and Hooch, Volunteers, Joe versus the Volcano and The Money Pit...to the OUTSTANDING talents of Nicholas Cage! Sir, have you not seen the box-office BLOCKBUSTERS such as Peggy Sue Got Married, Trapped in Paradise, and Ghostrider!?!

Please...;)

After this post, I will then know you are joking....got it.

hi guys!
i have not posted in a while, i just usually stalk the "news" here.
but seeing this thread really devastated me. "VOTLM" is my favorite thing about DHS....
it actually introduced me to Ariel when i was just 2yrs old. it's played a big role in my life.
As much as I appreciate the BatB show, I can live with it being replaced by Tangled. Rapunzel is awesome.

But VotLM is dear to my heart. I, too, am emotionally attached to that show. The sad thing is, I recently introduced my three year old niece to Ariel, the movie. I love Mermaid, so it was an exciting moment for me to watch the movie with her sitting on my lap, us sharing a bucket of popcorn.

I was so looking forward to showing her the VotLM show in DHS. My absolute favourite show. I really wish the show will last a long time yet, or at least long enough for us to see it together.

Ariel is a perfect princess, perfect movie, with perfect songs. It is strong enough to warrant both a dark ride and a musical show, especially with all those people staying in the Ariel wing of the new Animation resort.

I can't believe you would neglect Tom Hanks' most celebrated film accomplishment to date - Bachelor Party!

End of comparison. LoL
Bachelor Party!?! Who the heck enjoys movies with slap-stick comedy? Next, you'll be trying to tell me Bosom Buddies was better than The Facts of Life!

WAIT! I totally forgot...the GREAT, SIR Nicolas Cage also appeared in Fast Times At Ridgemont High AND Valley Girl! That settles it! The man is an ICON! Bring Ben Gates to Hollywood Studios NOW!

I believe that Beauty and the Beast is terrible at DHS. If anyone on these forums have every seen the Barter Theater (Abingdon, Virginia) adaptation of the film/story, you would agree with me on the terribleness of the Disney's show. Barter did a awesome job on everything, from the sets, to the costumes. It was really real and they even sung all the songs from the film. Though the play was nearly 2 hours+ long, it was extremely good. Disney's representation, on the other hand, is extremely cost-cut. It is as short as possible, cheaply made as possible, and just simply bad. Disney could have done a better job on it, and if they don't plan on changing it, then take it out . Good Rittens! Little Mermaid is somewhat of a (i guess you would call it) "dated" show, that seems like it needs a new look. The show itself is not bad, but it just needs 'something'. I really don't know...

No offense, but who would sit 2+ hours to see a show in a theme park? This is coming from a girl who LOVES musical theatre. I think HS's version is just enough to please just about everyone.

I agree...there is a big difference in a theme park theatrical presentation and the real thing. I would love to see a real theatrical presentation at WDW, but it would have to NOT be in a theme park...DTD would be perfect.

That is exactly why BatB is not longer. I do think that DHS's version is cut just enough to be a good summary of the BatB storyline, enough to make it ok. But, I do think that they could have did something else in order to pass along the BatB story to the young.

Yeah, they could add it somewhere. There are so many adaptations of Disney movies in the theater all over the globe, and they are something that Disney needs to showcase. They could do it in Downtown Disney, if they wanted to, and charge a seperate admission fee (like Circqe Du Solei)

Love VoTLM-not a big princess person, but love the effects and puppetry. Besides, there are multiple Nemo, TS and (soon) POTC attractions in WDW, so the new ride shouldnt be an excuse to close it.

BaTB- I haven't seen that show in probably 15 years....but I just dont feel like Tangled or PATF are "epic" enough stories to replace it...great characters and stories to both, but BATB is an 800 pound gorilla compared to those two.

You can expect Beauty and the Beast to close after the Christmas season.

So that seems to be FotLK and B&TB both closing around January - gonna put quite a few people out of jobs (as well as give visitors two less attractions to visit) - will they be reassigned (possibly Tangled or Phineas and Ferb), or do they just tend to have temporary contracts that finish?

How long do you think it would take to turn it into the tangled show?
If they wanted to, Disney could probably turn it over in a couple of weeks. However, Disney seems like they sometimes schedule refurbs based on how big of a change it is, not based on the work being done. Look at Country Bears; I doubt whatever they are doing in there really needed to be done over two months' time.
