AMPTP says no to negotiating with individual studios. The studios are "all aligned". Ball is back in WGA's court to respond.

"The WGA strike has been underway for 130 days, and the two sides have not met in the negotiating room for three weeks. Each side has maintained that it’s up to the other to respond."

It’s worse than that - unemployment insurance is funded by employers.

So employers are supposed to pay people who are on strike against and refusing to go to work for….wait for it…employers?

Oh, is that how it works? I thought payroll taxes paid by all workers funds state unemployment insurance budgets.

Regardless, it seems a very bad idea. If you go on strike, you get paid unemployment? The repercussions of that would seem to be extremely damaging to a state's ability to attract and retain employers. And it would discourage a fast and efficient negotiations process during any strike, further weakening a state's long term economy. A very bad idea when there are 49 other states that are individual laboratories of democracy to counter you with more pro-business environments.

I feel like being impatient again since there’s no second negotiations, the strike hasn’t ended, and the AMPTP are being stupid, greedy, and hopeless, but I’m trying my best to control it. I hope the negotiations is coming.🥺

On the bright side, the Universal Studios tram doesn't have to go through quiet areas because of filming. They have the whole backlot to themselves. I guess HHN scare-actors are not union actors.
