Hollywood types can't strike in a mild rain storm otherwise this happens
iu

It makes you wonder what their strike weather plan is for this November and December? We've got an El Nino brewing now, and could get an early start to the rainy season in SoCal late this fall.

I don't know if its a step in the right direction or not, but they appear to continue to talk which is good. As long as talks continue there is a path forward for the strikes ending.
I hope so. Because TP2000 is making it worse for me. Don’t worry, I’ll ignore him.

That might be best for your mental health. Look into blocking me or something (not sure how it works exactly, but it's a feature on this site) and then you don't have to see any posts from me, if you are unable to stay away from this strike thread itself.

Good luck to you, and I'll just know you are hopeful for a strike resolution. :)

For the record, I'm a him. An older man who still cuts a rather dashing figure in tailored clothes, with a distinguished but friendly face and lots of sparkle left in my Swedish blue eyes. Just to help give you a visual in your mind's eye.

Mayor Bass is on the case. After her huge success in solving the homeless and crime and drug crisis in LA, she is now offering her services as mediator and healing agent. She is "ready to personally engage".

“Ready to personally engage…?”

Isn’t that something they do at Starfleet….ala ‘Star Trek : The Next Generation’, right?
That Picard chap….he does that a lot.

It's not that they aren't helping. They're doing everything they normally do to "help".

It's just that they aren't effective at their jobs.
We’ll, I don’t think Newsom is a good governor. Also, it’s hopeless. The AMPTP are greedy and stupid. This strike will never end at this rate. I’m sorry if I’m being doom and gloom lately, but the AMPTP are hopeless, greedy, and stupid. This strike will never end.😢

Things have to go on for a long time to bring change. It will end when it ends.

"The Writers Guild said today that the AMPTP’s latest counteroffer for a new contract “is neither nothing, nor nearly enough.” In a message to its members today, the guild said that “We will continue to advocate for proposals that fully address our issues rather than accept half measures like those” offered by the companies in its latest offer on August 11. The guild said that “we remain committed to direct negotiations with the companies.” The strike is now in its 115th day.

No new negotiations are currently scheduled, as hopes for a breakthrough to end the ongoing writers’ strike were dashed Tuesday night following a much-anticipated meeting between the guild, the AMPTP and the CEOs of Disney, Netflix, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. Discovery, which the guild had earlier called “a meeting to get us to cave.”"

Full article below, which includes a statement from the WGA negotiating committee on the status of the negotiations.

We know this bad news already. The AMPTP and the CEOs are stubborn as a pack of mules. :(

The agencies are now starting to lay off agents. CAA has just laid off 60 agents. Glad I am no longer on that side of the business.

You see? It’s getting worse! Hollywood will go bankrupt. And the AMPTP and the CEOs will share the blame for that. It’s like the pandemic all over again!😢

Well, I don’t think the situation is hopeless but I’m just glad that I switched over to work in live theatre, because if I was still an agent, I’d be pretty nervous right now.

Isn't this old news, like 2 weeks old?

Well in all honestly there needs to be a shake up from the Agency side of things anyways. I always thought there were too many agents in Hollywood anyways.

Calm down, this news appears to be several weeks old.

Hollywood is far from going bankrupt.
Okay. But if I keep being doom and gloom from time to time, don’t blame me. Blame the AMPTP and the CEOs for refusing to pay their writers and actors. If the AMPTP should’ve pay their writers and actors in the first place, I wouldn’t have this doom and gloom moments. They’re fault! Not mine!:angelic:
