Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit?

Alrighty... if you haven't seen it elsewhere yet, Adam, Ricky and I were there yesterday, near the front of the line. The line was very long, very quickly.

My overall thoughts on it,Is it a great addition to USF, yes. Is it going to draw huge crowds, yes. Is it a very fun and somewhat unique ride, absolutely. Is it the EPIC AWESOMENESS BEST COASTER EVER OMG!!!!!!1111, not even close but it seems some of the early reviews are saying that and I feel the hype is already too high for what it is.

Will I ride it again, of course...

-The "Treble Clef" is much rougher than I expected.
-The only real "airtime" seems to be at the little jumps at the brake runs.
-The conveyor was not on, the crew is not ready to handle it's speed yet.
-There were only 2 trains when we got on, but they were planning on adding a third.
-The video didn't work yet.

Ricky added his thoughts, plus pics and video on Attractions site here:

Just rode it today...fantastic ride. I have been on 150+ different rollercoasters, and all of the best ones in the States and some of the best in the world so I can give a subjective ride review. I'd give it a 4/5. While this ride is no El Toro or Superman Ride of Steel, it belongs alongside most of the B&M hypercoasters. One surprise was that it packed TONS of positive G-forces. I was not expecting that. It was lacking in airtime though compared to, say, Goliath at SFOG and was nothing in the realm of an El Toro. One disappointment was the presence of roughness. I was really expecting a smooth ride from start to finish. The music sets the ride apart from other rides, and really adds to the experience.

I totally disagree with Ricky's assessment that this ride is just slightly more thrilling than Big Thunder. That is insane. My wife can ride BTMRR, and this ride would absolutely terrify her. This ride in on a completely different level than BTMRR. In fact, in the thrills department it slaughters anything at Disney, without question. Also, he said that it is not as good as Manta. I am not a fan of flying coasters, at all, and find this ride to be more thrilling than Manta as well. It sits nicely alongside Hulk as one of the top coasters in Orlando.

Between yesterday and today, I was lucky enough to ride it several times. It's awesome! Honestly my favorite parts are the entrances to the brake runs-- just whips ya right up there. The music you choose makes or breaks the ride. Busy Child was awesome, Sabatoge was cool, but my favorite (by far) is the Muppet's "Movin Right Along" easter egg.

No moving platform as of yet, but that's what technical rehearsals are for-- so no complaining! From all the guests I talked to that got to ride it today, they loved it.

Oooo, what Number you have to enter for that? I REALLY want all these songs cataloged- I hope they don't take them away before I might ride in October...

That's a terrible decision by Universal. They could only get two trains operating yesterday, and the audio only worked 25% of the time on one of them. Plus it seemed to go down about every 10-15 minutes. You can get away with that type of stuff during a technical rehearsal, but not once it's officially open. Plus, officially open means that Express will be in place now and that will kill the standby line. I can't imagine how long the queue will be until they get the rest of the trains up.

Express is still not available for the ride.

I just think it's funny because everyone wanted it open, and now that it is they're saying it still shouldn't be.

It will have to be once it's officially open tomorrow. Otherwise Guest Services will be swamped by angry Express guests.

I wanted it open for TM previews and technical rehearsals, not officially announced as open when it's barely operational.

I've heard California Screamin' is actually on there, I REALLY REALLY want to know if that one is true.
 :D

Seriously want all these numbers for October...

?! :ROFLOL:

I do hope the BTTF theme code will be 88. :D Hopefully someone will get the code out for it soon, I'm definitely going to try for it on my 2nd ride (first is already going to 'Stronger' ).

Try 945 for California Screamin'.

If anyone else is interested, IOACentral is cataloging all the songs they've discovered. Still no word on the BTTF theme yet - though that's the one I want to hear most. :D

As for the sudden opening - I also agree that this is a bad move. Rockit needs to be in hush-hush "technical rehearsals" until the conveyor is moving, the cast is fully trained, the audio/video difficulties are ironed out, and a minimum of 4 (if not 5) trains are running consistently. None of these have happened. Also, Express is reportedly not open, so yes Guest Services will likely be swamped...

Would you rather it be closed to the public still?

No, I'd rather continue to have it open for technical rehearsals instead of Universal deciding to declare it "officially open" to guests just so they can try and generate a quick attendance spike.

Ops knows it still needs to be in technical rehearsals (and as far as they're concerned it still is), and they aren't prepared to deal with the complaints they will get now. The execs obviously feel the short-term attendance gain it will generate is worth the poor guest experience.

I have seen this conveyor belt loading platform up close and personal. I just don't see any way this will ever work. It is a very short distance between the first possible unloading point and the lift hill. Are they thinking that people will get off the train while simultaneously loading the next car, have people pull down their restraints, and pick their song..all before the lift? Then you have single riders and express pass people to further add to the confusion. I think this is going to be one of those "nice try" efforts that will never actually work in practice.

I must agree, the way it is currently set up, the load is right next to the lift... the only way to make this possible would be to remove some of that railing and load the cars by the greeter.

Applying that logic, I guess that means Expedition Everest has been in technical rehearsal for the majority of it's existence then.

While I'm no fan of Everest, especially without the A-yeti, let's not get carried away.

Was over at Universal again today and Rockit's operations were still a mess. It is really a shame that they felt the need to call the ride open.
