Ehh, everyone has their own opinion and you'll hear the worst story about the best restaurants...it's all in the experience.

Personally, we like it a lot. We've only done dinner there, not the character breakfast, and it's a pretty well-rounded buffet...many different choices and options.
The food is pretty good as is the wait staff.

It can get a little loud sometimes and crowded, especially at the dinner rush where many people are going for the Fantasmic package, but we like it just fine.

I liked it my husband didn't care for some of the more "fancier" items on the menu, He is a meat and potatoes kind of guy.

We have eaten at H&V 3 years in a row.
There are many food items to choose from.
We enjoyed it each time, but we were looking forward to trying Mama Melrose this year, but it was not available w/ the Fantasmic pkg.

We've been twice - its about as good as it gets in DHS but there are much better restaurants to be found around the other 3 parks

We had breakfast there and thought it was okay. Better atmosphere at the other DHS restaurants. But the food was decent for a buffet. Nothing spectacular, but no real horror stories. We did have a bit of an issue with some of the character interactions at teh breakfast, but they managed to recover before we left.

We did the character breakfast there 2 years ago and haven't gone back since. For the price we weren't impressed at at all and find the Crystal Palace to be much better. Food was passable at best and a poor selection as well.

personally I would say it is just as good as all the other buffet restaurants.

aside from Boma I didnt see any real difference in quality or choice, that includes Crystal Palace.

I've eaten at H&V many times over the years back when it was Minnie and friends and now with Jo Jo an d the gang, I've eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner and each time have found it to be not good. Breakfast was ok, but not as good as Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's and lunch and dinner were just plain bad.

We don't care for it at all. I enjoyed every buffet that we have ever done at WDW except this one. The food was baked out like it had been on the buffet to long or something, it was barely edible.

We have a 7:05pm reservations on Tuesday July 14th for the buffet. We are thinking of changing that reserve. Should we? Have been to Disney 10 times (in a row) & we have never tried this place. So its that bad???? Can anyone tell me whats on the dinner menu??? I have seen the menu online but it dosn't get into specifics. Thanks.

I don't know if you should change your reservations or not. I'll just say that if I am eating at DHS, I am going to the 50s Prime Time Cafe. The pot roast there is a must every trip!

Not old, just vintage.
Personally I love Hollywood and Vine. For me, it is one of the best buffets on Disney property. There is a really nice variety of things available. Regardless of what time I have gone there is always fresh food. There is usually pork tenderloin, herb crusted salmon, several kinds of vegetables, a pasta dish, salad, amazing mashed potatoes, and carved beef and turkey. I have also found that if you don't like something the way it is presented or served, the chefs behind the counter are plenty happy to make you a single serving the way you want it.

My only complaint about the place is that it can get a little noisy because the chairs are metal. Other than that, the place is one of two places in all of DHS that I actually enjoy eating at.

I would vote that you keep your ADR. If you cancel it at this point it is going to be hard (if not impossible) to replace it with another restaurant during the height of the summer crowds.

You should give H&V a whirl. IMHO, Prime Time is the nastiest place on property. But isin't it all just a matter of taste???

Food is great. They have a open kitchen behind the buffet and they put small trays of it out, rather than huge, so it moves faster and is fresher than most buffetts. At least that is how it works for dinner. I think people think the decor is kind of drab, or whatever. It is a little basic. Still, the food is varied and very good. Excellent vegetables as well.

Thanks everyone for your comments!! I think it is all a matter of taste and we might hate it or love it & unless we try it we might never know. We shall keep our reservations. It was never really about if me and my husband would like it but my 3 boys. At 10, 12 & 15 they R very picky...but oh well....hopefully they have mac& cheese & chicken nuggets????? Thanks again.

Yes. They have a kids buffet section right in the middle. It has mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, and some other things. I think there is enough of a variety that everyone will find something they like.

It is the only restaurant on property that my family unanimously voted we have zero desire to return to ever again. Other places do buffets much better, maybe try Cape May Cafe at Beach Club or Crystal Palace in the MK. If you were planning to do the Fantasmic package, maybe try Mama Melrose.
