Tell me something, why haven't we seen an M. Night Shyamalan effects, show, walkthrough in Disney-MGM? That would be inexpensive way to add fun things to do in the park.

The first preview was actually last night, during the showing of "The Sixth Sense". Looks like a fantastastically-scary movie. I would love to see a Shyamalan ride at MGM...I absolutely love his movies.

*DRIFT ALERT*

I actually got to see the trailer for it before "The Passion", and as much as I usually like M. Nights movies, they're starting to feel the same. Given that I had heard nothing about his new flick, I was able to guess that the trailer I was watching was by him within about a minute. It just screamed m. night. Still, his movies are great, but the flicks he did as a kid as bonuses on the DVD are better!

Interesting...

I've seen the online preview, but have yet to see it on the big screen.

Shyamalan is the most talented director we've got out right now. CAN'T WAIT!

Its amazing how much has come from the demolition of the lagoon. I would like to see Harry Potter in the United Kingdom Pavillion in EPCOT Center or in :lookaroun Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom. Without a doubt, Harry Potter is one of the greatest fantasies ever written and will pass the test of time. There is so much for the Imagineers to use with Harry Potter. Keep in mind, Harry Potter is much more than the movies you see on screen. The books take me into Harry's world from the moment I open it till the time I close it. Harry does not belong in the Disney Studios because it is more than the movies that Warner Bros. puts out (Don't judge Harry by those). I say the Imagineers can and will do great things with Harry Potter and that J.K. Rowling (the author) will make sure that they do her creation justice. Harry Potter takes me and many others to a special place, just like the Walt Disney World Resort!

I don't know about this. You're putting HP in a class with LOTR and The Chronicles of Narnia? I don't agree, but you're entitled to your opinion. Now LOTR that would be a great ride. Heck, it would be a great park. But nooooo, Mr. Eisner doesn't want to make the LOTR movies.:fork:

Even though George Lucas was the director of all 3 Indiana Jones films, the movies were distributed by Paramount Pictures. Wouldn't that mean that Paramount has every right to put an Indiana Jones-themed attraction in any of their parks? I would think so. But I'm sure that they had to have some involvement in licensing rights and more before Indiana Jones Adventure was created. If this could happen, there's no reason why Disney can't work out a deal with Warner Bros.

Thanks for typing this because it saved me time. Lucas Film is nothing more than a company created in the mind of George Lucas. The Indiana films are OWNED by Paramount Pictures who own several theme parks around the world. This didn't stop Disney from building a franchise attraction around it! SO, let us stop the madness of using the argument that "disney doesn't own HP so they shouldn't build it" because that is silly. As for where it belongs... I think that the Imaginears would be able to make it fit in beautifully with Fantasyland as long as they keep the scale small. If the ride is going to be a huge thrilling E-ticket and more along the lines of Indiana/Dinosaur instead of a pleasant dark ride like Peter Pan, then it belongs in MGM. It all depends on what kind of attraction it ends up being.

Also, just to clarify the "Village" trailers. The TEASER trailer debuted a long time ago and was seen in theaters for a few months. The trailer seen during the Sixth Sense showing was a brand new full theatrical trailer. So if you think you already saw the teaser, I suggest going over to www.thevillage.movies.com to see the new full trailer. It is truly incredible. M. Night is the saviour of Disney's Touchstone Pictures division. He has supplied them with 3 hits since 1999 while the rest of the division's films bomb at the Box Office one after the other after the other.

i DO NOT think the case here is comparing what attractions started with disney, or another company and became disney rides. fantasyland rides do not all have to have the same reoccuring theme. for example, you say that pooh didnt start out with disney. well other things did, and then the wdc baught pooh and it became a ride. BASICIALLY WHAT IM SAYING IS THAT ANYTHING COULD BE AN ATTRACTION IF AGREEMENTS ARE MADE.
now when you think about the haunted mansion, you would think that a mansion would take up a lot of space. in reality, it takes up very little space because the show building is behind the mansion building and you can not see it from the front. The same illusion could happen in a HP attraction.
ALSO, you could enter through diagon valley into a train or something and exit inside a building. HOWEVER, you would think you were outside still. The same indoor outdoor effect is in the pirates of the caribbean, mexico pavillion, etc. And once you wre inside the building with the outside effect, it could be dark out and they could have the castle in the distance. Thats how they can set up a harry potter ride without any problems with land or hogwarts being in the background of the castle. Keep in mind that Disney Imagineering can do anything, they have done a lot and their limits are practicially endless.:)

It would just be totally out of place at MK as far as I'm concerned. I'd much rather see a villians theme ride or even a classic Disney toons ride (Silly Symphonies anyone?) put in the 20k space.

I totally agree.

I agree also no harry potter in the magic kingdom at all does not belong there at all. They can stick something in Epcot,I personally cant stand Harry Potter :hurl:

Personally, I just think that this is just a rumor that keeps floating around because one or two people want it to happen, but they don't know if it will happen.(No offense to anyone)

Whatever WDW decides to do I really don't have an opinion either way. If they put HP in a park, I'm sure that they will do it justice. But if not, I'm still hoping for a Finding Nemo ride(Not just Living Seas). Monsters, INC would be nice also, but in MGM.

I think that they have a lot of space where 20K was so they should really use as best as they can.

That's not true Paramount owns the movies but Indiana Jones is owned 100% by Lucas Film LTD. just a Star Wars was put out by Fox but they do not own Star Wars. Paramounts only stake is to the images on flim nothing more.

Thank you. It was George Lucas' decision completely which parks got rides. That is why there have been issues with getting a Star Tours update--he demands a full reworking of the attraction before he'll make a new movie and Disney isn't/wasn't willing to pay for that.

My exact words were... "Paramount owns the Indiana films." Your response is.. "That isn't true, Paramount owns the movies." Ummm... that is what I said. However, you are wrong about George owning the Indiana Jones character as well. The characters and stories are jointly owned by several people. Lucas does in fact own a piece of the franchise but the only involvment he had in the films was co-writer of the screenplay. The full draft was written by Kaufman and Lawrence Kasdan and the film itself was directed by Spielberg. Comparing it to Star Wars for which Lucas truly owns is false. Lucas actually owns the Star Wars films and Fox just distributes them (and gets very little percentage of the gross.) Paramount fully owns the Indiana films and the character is owned by multiple people, not just Lucas.

First of all do you all remember who was at the helm of paramount when Indy first appeared? Eisner!!! If you read Eisners bio (which is actually pretty good even though he needs to get the heck out of Disney) he talks about what was happened when Lucas came to him about Indy. Paramount was mostly a distributer and marketer for Indy but got a great deal of the profits for funding, marketing and distributing the movie. Lucas got 100% of the creative control (licencing rights) which he could use an any way he chose (much like star wars). This is one reason Lucas makes so much $$$$ off his movies because he retains all the licencing rights!!!

Anyways back to Potter. HP should never touch MK soil, but I could definitly see it at the studios. One thing everybody keeps argueing about is if something Non-Disney should appear in the parks. Well if you believe in this whole heartedly then why has everybody forgot that the studios were have the MGM logo right next to the Disney one and this isn't just for a ride but a whole park!!! Everybody makes the Indy and Star Wars remarks that they are not disney, well here is a park that has another film studio right in name!!! I don't know, call me a dreamer, but i think that if one park should remain just Disney (or at least as much as it can), it should be MK.

Thanks,

Steve

I respect Lucas for wanting the best! No REHAB ( Painting ) is going to please him. He wants the best!

AND yes Lucas owns Star Wars. He has no plan to go into distribution which is a whole other game. I read this in an interview where he was asked why doesnt he just do this himself...

Hate to dig up an old thread, but my Harry Potter thoughts:

*NO* *NO* and *NO*!!!

If they shove HP in the middle of Fantasyland it will look H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E.

Harry Potter is a thin franchise. Sure, they've sold millions in books & movies. But think that in 10 years, (by then the last book will surely be long out), it will all be a forgotten memory.

As Grizz said the "classics" like Snow White, Pooh etc have "staying power" while Potter does not. Also a "Hogwarts Castle" will look ATROCIOUS behind Fantasyland..

But one reason I think it would be good (one only) is to fill the void. But those people who pose as "officials" with the "confirmed" HP ride news...are lying. Disney hasn't purchased the franchise. It's *Warner Brothers*. Disney is creative enough to make their own idea, out of their movies or own Imagineering minds.

Thanks for reading my thoughts (but don't flame me for it) if you dislike it
