Oh... that's right. Put it in Future World. The cat said:Harry Potter at MK? That would be the most WONDERFUL thing! Get real folks, get 21st Century!
Not sayin' it WON'T, I'm saying it SHOULDN'T.Mickeyrulz said:I'm sad because everyone hates me for pulling up an old thread.
I'M SORRY!!
Harry Potter -- don't worry, the ride WILL NOT ever happen! Listen to Grizz's words -- he said it wont, it wont then!
Mickeyrulz said:Hate to dig up an old thread, but my Harry Potter thoughts:
*NO* *NO* and *NO*!!!
If they shove HP in the middle of Fantasyland it will look H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E.
Harry Potter is a thin franchise. Sure, they've sold millions in books & movies. But think that in 10 years, (by then the last book will surely be long out), it will all be a forgotten memory.
As Grizz said the "classics" like Snow White, Pooh etc have "staying power" while Potter does not. Also a "Hogwarts Castle" will look ATROCIOUS behind Fantasyland..
But one reason I think it would be good (one only) is to fill the void. But those people who pose as "officials" with the "confirmed" HP ride news...are lying. Disney hasn't purchased the franchise. It's Universal's. Disney is creative enough to make their own idea, out of their movies or own Imagineering minds.
Thanks for reading my thoughts

For the facts:
The HP books have been published in over 200 languages, and sold over 100 million copies. There are still 3 more books to go.
The HP movies are in the TOP 5 of all time leading world box office grosses (movies 1 and 2) while movie 3 is in the top 15 of world box office gross (still playing in many countries).
Okay, I think this established WORLD WIDE POPULARITY.
U.S. opening box offices were 84 million for movie 3 in its first weekend. Movie houses were sold out with many HP parties and people dressing up for the opening weekend.
While Warner Bros owned the movie rights to books 1-4, they don't own the rights past book 4. This leaves Disney with an opportunity to buy the rights to the last 3 films.
Since WDW is a world wide destination for people of all ages from around the globe, the marriage of Disney and Potter would be a perfect pairing. Here's why IMO:
Disney is the lovable, warm and fuzzy theme park, beloved by everyone. Potter is about love, friendships, honor, destiny, bravery and standing up for what is right, (and beloved by many). They are a perfect pairing, IMO. There is NO WAY Universal could ever do Potter justice. Only Disney could. Universal doesn't have the heart of Disney and never will.
Harry Potter is just not for children. I know many adults, some not even parents, that are as hooked on Potter as children. When the last book was released (book 5), on June 21 2003, there were more adults buying books than kids! Barnes and Noble recognized how huge HP is in this country alone and there were hundreds of bookstore midnight parties when the books were released at midnight, (and not just B&N I might add).
Okay, I will quit gushing over Harry and start talking Disney.
There is a vast opportunity here for Disney. The Potter franchise comes with a built in audience. Adding a Potter attraction will, I am certain, attract many many people from all over the world, to WDW. This would be an awesome attracion, and one that I would completely trust to Disney to do it justice. The attraction could be themed in many ways from a Buckbeaks flight theme, to a Quiddich theme, to Dementors and Voldemort. My daughters and I have already given thought that Disney could build a Hogwarts hotel, with sections of the hotel called Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. This could include a quiddich swimming pool, a Diagon Alley shopping area, Honeydukes sweet shop, the Great Hall food court, etc.....
Um, while I realize after reading each post in this thread that there are quite a few of you that are not HP fans, I don't think you are the majority. Harry Potter is quite beloved by many many children and adults alike. In my own home, you can quite often find my 3 daughters and I curled up in my bed with each of us reading a different HP book. Harry Potter has already established itself as a classic, to be shared by generations yet to come. It is a phenomenom in the literary world because of its enourmous popularity. Making it a part of the Disney experience would be perfect.
As for where it should go in WDW, I really don't care as long as they JUST DO IT!
