All you people in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama keep a close eye on Katrina and be sure to play it safe. If you live in a low lying area make sure you have an area of higher ground to which you can evacuate. Stay safe!

It is looking really bad for us here. The casinos are in shutdown mode. I went back to WalMart a few minutes ago because I feel like I do not have enough supplies and plus I cannot sleep. It was packed in there even at this hour. This could potentially be another Camille and from what my parents told me after Camille people went weeks without water to take a bath, drink, wash clothes, no ice, no fuel, etc. I was not born yet for Camille so I keep wondering if I have enough supplies to keep my 3 year old and my dog ok and comfortable. I have the laptop from the office so I can stay on these boards as long as I can through this tomorrow and Monday. I heard this storm will be bringing lots of lightening with it. I hate lightening. Gosh, February can not come soon enough. I will definitely be trying to think about our vacation soon so I will need the diversion of these boards.

You need to get off the coast. Now is the time to leave! Please do not stay. This is a monster out there and is still going through a RIC.

I think it is too late now. We never expected it to get this bad. Since my husband and I are both in the gaming industry, we worked until last night starting at early yesterday morning to get our jobs wrapped up so we have not been able to lock down anything here at the house. Of course after this, we may not have jobs especially me. We are going to have Hard Rock memorabilia in people's front yards. My husband has been in a line at Lowe's since four this morning to get a generator and he is just walking in the door so I have been waiting on him to help me. We are supposed to get squalls by lunch time. Hopefully since our house made it through Camille, we will be ok for this one. I think we all need a lot of prayers right now, especially New Orleans. That is like a part of our city since we are less than an hour away. My husband told me last night we should catch a flight out to WDW this morning before they discontinue them out of here. I am starting to think it would have been a good idea.

You still have time to get out... Tie things down quickly and go.

You guys will be in my prayers (as is everyone in the path of the storm). Unless the path sifts east a little, we won't get it quiet as bad as they first thought. Stay safe!

Category 5 Katrina Bears Down On New Orleans

President Makes Emergency Declaration For Louisiana

UPDATED: 8:41 am EDT August 28, 2005

NEW ORLEANS -- Hurricane Katrina has been upgraded to a Category 5 storm and appears to be headed for landfall close to New Orleans early Monday morninG.

The storm had wind speeds of 160 mph Sunday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. It could produce storm surge flooding of up to 25 feet, with even higher waves, as much as 15 inches of rain, and tornadoes.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin said forecasters fear it's the storm that the people of his city have long worried could hit, with storm surges that could reach 25 feet, swamping the levee system meant to protect the low-lying Louisiana city.

This is not a test. This is the real deal, Nagin said.

The head of Louisiana's St. Bernard Parish has been pleading with local residents there to leave and not try to ride out the storm.

One measure of his seriousness: He said he doesn't have enough body bags to handle a major disaster.

It's awful! They are still saying they think it will drop down to a cat. 4 at landfall (still bad, and of course, they don't know for sure). I hope that everyone in NO, the MS coast and AL coast get out!
