Great. I wish they'd do it already. I hardly set foot in DAK right now anyway...with the current shape of the park, I won't pay to get in(I only visit when I get in free!). I know people would be upset if Everest was down, but that ride is such terrible show.
I didnt dislike the ride..and as posted there is much more lighting now and your moving so fast that you only see that part for a milisecond..certainly didnt ruin my trip to AK

While they tell cast members the Yeti is a she...the fan community and some cast member friends of mine have been calling the yeti Kumar since day one. If Disneyland has Harold, why can't Disney World have Kumar? Lol

I could've sworn in an interview I saw re: the making of Animal Kingdom Joe Rohde himself referred to the Yeti as "he" but of course I can't find a transcription of that.

EDIT: I did find where (taken out of the quote) the Yeti was referenced as "the dominant male" (comparing it to monkeys etc. re: how they designed him it).

Then they should. If they had done it 4 years ago, we would be on 3 years with a working yeti.
If they want to make DHS's numbers look better than they can take the Yeti offline for a year to fix it. However, I fear that they won't even consider it until they have another major draw in that park, and I don't think a relocated Festival of the Lion King is that draw.

I'm still convinced that the next big thing that comes to AK will result in EE closing a few months later to fix it. They won't do anything until there is a place to "put" all the guests that would normally be there. Just my gut.

Not true, I was told by a CM that that yeti is referred to as "Betty Yeti" and the yeti in the animation at the top is referred to as "Teddy Yeti" or some other male name. I know I have the "Betty Yeti" right, I forgot the male name of the animated one.
It's not it's that difficult to determine whether the Yeti's a guy or a gal....

Although I hear what you are saying, as we only got to see it in position B. However, reality is the milion bucks is gone and you can't get it back. The dollars to put back into it are the dollars not in hand.

Animal Kingdom's original concepts have been transformed many times.

Although, many of us rush back to get on Everest, but I am kinda looking forward to spending a morning there with my hopper ticket. We have been to AK since it opened and let me tell you - talk about crowded (only Africa was open!).

I am also not happy they changed the poacher scenes because some people (probably the ones who got Bugs Bunny off the air) complained.

Animal Kingdom may become another River Country (which I never got to do).

When were you @ Animal Kingdom when only Africa was open?

Animal Kingdom will not go the way RC did it is a major theme park. There were quite a few things that happened simultaneously that pushed the park to close.

What?! When did this happen? Shows how long it's been since I've been to AK. PC run amok FTL

Yeah it has been gone for a few months. It really needed to go. The wardens airplane landing has been gone for a few years now and it took them a while after the plane disappeared to remove the audio of the plane landing. Then Little Red was not working on my last ride through KS. It will be nice to have the Zebras out there on the final run into the unload zone.

Yep. As often happens, CM's develop stories and personalities for AA's and entire attractions that don't jive with what the original creators intended (see:HM plotline and "ring"). They're often the in-park versions of bus drivers.

I would take the word of Rhode that the yeti is male over some CM that decided it would be cute to call it "Betty".

I think the complaint was "more animals because animals" not "less poachers because I'm offended".

Not agreeing or disagreeing, having worked on Safaris in its heyday, I can't be impartial to the change so I just keep it to myself.

I have a feeling you're right. I think the poacher storyline worked but probably the majority of guests, and especially those with children, either missed it completely or, if they complained, it was "why was the entire end devoid of animals on a safari ride" vs. "poachers are offensive, even if the story had a happy ending."

As many times as I have visited Animal Kingdom and ridden Everest, I have NEVER even seen the Yeti. Not even the disco yeti. The lights are always off or it's covered. I would be thrilled to ever get to see it. Oh well maybe next trip.
