Harry Potter Ride

Again Im confused because HP is owned by WB? What would Univ. have to do with anything...Other than Univ. Park in Fl....but even to that extent arent most WB rides at 6 Flags? Does Univ. have any other land since it sold it all?

Rights are a funny thing aperently. Think of all of the places sponge bob shows up : six flags(wb), universal studios, and the paramount parks not to mention other properties such as scooby doo which do the same thing. So just because one company "owns" the rights doesn't mean it can't show up somewhere else with the proper permission and a lot of green backs.

The reason for ABC and ABC Family showing Harry potter is because they bought the rights to show it for so many years. I doubt Disney really owns the rights to an attraction on HP. I would be sure Six Flags would because they have alot of WB movie rides..... (Paramount is owned by viacom, Nick is owned by Viacom, Universal made deal with nick before Viacom back in late 80s to early 90s... I dont know why Six Flags has Spongebob or Stargate....)

A Harry Potter attraction could be very good, if done right. But most likely it would not be done right and would flat out suck. Yeah, buddy if your gonna plan a vacation around a certain ride i would plan around EE, or SGE

Has anybody heard any more rumours about it? My mom and I are planning a trip around it

Feel free to plan a trip anytime around Harry Potter...just make sure you book your flight to the UK and not Orlando. :zipit:
While I enjoy HP and think unchained Disney Imagineers can do it justice, I would not hold my breath...and if it were to happen, it wouldn't be in the MK.

so you guys wouldnt like lord of the rings if you don't like harry potter

Neither of them belong in the Magic Kingdom.

These are non-Disney, live-action films.

I agree with Imagineer99 - I actually think the original poster is that Bill person they banned, but that's just me. :)

why do you people hate harry potter so much?
Who hates Harry? I love Harry. Read all the books, saw all three movies. Can't wait until the next book comes out. BUT, he really isn't Disney. The only place he might possibly fit in would be Epcot behind the England pavilion. But, he isn't a Disney character and really does not fit in anywhere. The only reason I say he might fit in well in the England pavillion, is because he represents something that has come out of England that has touched the lives of millions of kids around the world. Whether he is a fad or not, it is because of him that many kids, who normally would not be interested in reading, have now started showing an interest in books. This is now a part of English history. Therefore, could be included in the pavillion. However, I think he needs his own park. (I would find it out of place if Disney opened a Potter ride, but I would also be one of the first in line to ride it) :hammer:

People don't HATE harry potter. I would argue that the majority of people on this site are fans of Harry Potter. I for one am an Avid fan of the books, as they are wonderful pieces of fantasy literature. (can't say the same for the movies however;))

What people don't like is the following:
1.) Repeated threads on a topic that has been repeatedly declared false
2.) The idea of Harry Potter (a non-Disney franchise owned by a competing company) entering the Magic Kingdom
3.) A ride being created based upon the Movies (which are seriously lacking in terms of heart and warmth). Said ride would probably be made on the cheap, without proper time for creativity.

*ends rant and continues to cross arms in defiance*

BTW, welcome to the boards!

Agree completely, imagineer99. I'm looking forward to Year 6 to come out...it just doesn't belong at Disney. Let Rowling use all of her money to build Rowlingland in Britain--that country could certainly use a good theme park lol...Alton Towers didn't do it for me ;)

It's kind of funny...in the last HP thread I said pretty close to what you said above, in response to a "just joined" who said the same thing, one sentence ("Why do you all hate..."). In fact, I think it had the same punctuation as well.

Me thinks there is one or two people who are so obsessed over HP they have to spend their time trolling Disney boards about it to get their jollies.

Don't Potter-heads have websites where they can all bask in whatever glow attracts them to that franchise?

AEfx, who's thinking of starting a thread about a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" ride in Adventureland :)

I was actually thinking of starting a thread about Hilary Duff or Lindsay Lohan: the ride, because they are more Disneyish and would fit better in MK than good ol' Harry ever would! :D

Didn't realize I was stealing your thunder...;) I 'll had some parenthetical citations next time.

There has been a LOT of Harry Potter threads lately, haven't there?

That would be great  . Build a knockoff highspeed throw up style coaster and paint it black. Call it Harry Potter. Six flags has no theming, why would anyone even care if their version of a coater was "named" Harry Potter?
