And the theme of Six Flags Great Adventure is...trashy? Dirty? I guess I can see how Batman fits in with that...(Gotham, not the bat, himself lol)

I was actually thinking of starting a thread about Hilary Duff or Lindsay Lohan: the ride, because they are more Disneyish and would fit better in MK than good ol' Harry ever would! :D
Wow! Now THOSE are...rides. Hilary's would be for the lighter fare and a little more kid friendly, while Lindsay's would take you up and over....mountains in an effort to gain stardom.

I can't tell you how many times I have told my friends: "Man, I'd love to ride Lindsay Lohan or Hilary Duff!"

Potter ride? No Chance

I also heard rumors about the ride, but I doubt there will be a ride for multiple reasons.

1. There is no themed area that could fit with Potter
2. Harry Potter is owned by WB
3. There is very little room in the parks
4. Potter has a dark theme to it
and finally
5. Potter is not good ride material (not even for Six Flags theme parks that are owned by WB)

Actually, Who started this rumor?

Not saying this is going to happen, but there are certainly areas that would fit Potter at MGM and Epcot, there is PLENTY of room in the parks (that comes with having WDW nearly 50 square miles), Tower of Terror also has a dark theme and is one of the most successful rides Disney has ever produced, and Potter is great ride material--magic, monsters, etc. It just doesn't belong at Disney.

Harry Potter in MGM or Epcot wouldn't be bad. I dunno where everyone is thinking about the iride in MK. As for the dark ride material, is no scarer than Tower or Terror or Alein Encounter.

The reason for ABC and ABC Family showing Harry potter is because they bought the rights to show it for so many years. I doubt Disney really owns the rights to an attraction on HP. I would be sure Six Flags would because they have alot of WB movie rides..... (Paramount is owned by viacom, Nick is owned by Viacom, Universal made deal with nick before Viacom back in late 80s to early 90s... I dont know why Six Flags has Spongebob or Stargate....)

What we have to remember is this: 1) What we are really talking about here isn't Universal and Disney, it is GE/NBC and Disney. NBC has no desire to share the rights to any piece of their growing empire with Disney. Furthermore, 2) you must take in to consideration how picky J.K. Rowling was about who made her movies and what rights they had to take liberties. I seriously doubt that she would simply allow her characters to be divided up among so many competing compnanies. Remember that everyone was throwing millions of dollars at her left and right, but she picked WB because they had the best vision for her books and they gave her the most control. Frankly, I don't see the Disney nor NBC are in a position to toss out the kind of money and freedom to her that it would take to put up a ride. 3) As far as airing Harry Potter on ABC a few times for the next few years or something, Disney does not own Harry Potter, it is called syndication! Every time they air it they make money on the adds they sell, yet they pay WB, their partners and Rowling a risidual in order to use it. It is all complicated contract stuff. Think about it this way: The Drew Carey show is broadcast like 20 times a day on at least three different station...not all owned by Disney...yet that does not mean they all own it. Disney owns it. But they make money by letting others air it.

So that is my take on it. Sorry it was so long. But this rumor really does need to go the way of the Latin Invasion!

I've tried to explain this, and other contractual issues, in the various Potter-head threads, but to no avail. It simply is not happening - it was a rumor on ONE Harry Potter fansite a year ago, nothing more.

I really have nothing against Potter, nor Potter fans - but when they get so single-minded about something you just have to walk away and let them live in Grumbledorf or whatever it's called. :)

...Alton Towers didn't do it for me ;)

Well, a bit off-topic, but not content with forcing Alton Towers not to build any rides over tree-height, and blocking a proposed woodie, local residents are now suing the company for excessive noise... due to screaming!

Fun park screams 'cause misery'

A couple who live near to Alton Towers claim screams from the rides at the country's biggest theme park are making their lives a misery.

Stephen and Suzanne Roper say they have been forced to put up with excessively high decibel levels from popular rides such as Oblivion and the Corkscrew.

They have started a private prosecution against the Staffordshire park.

Tussauds Theme Park Ltd, the park's owners, are creating a statutory noise nuisance, county magistrates heard.

Noise readings

Mr and Mrs Roper say the 1990 Environmental Protection Act has been broken and want Tussauds to be served with a noise abatement order.

The couple moved to Farley, 100 yards from the park's entrance, 12 years before the rollercoasters appeared.

They also claim they are caused distress by public address systems, concerts and fireworks displays as well as screams and the noise of the rides.

The Oblivion ride entails a vertical drop of nearly 200ft face first, at a speed of 110 km and a maximum G-force of 4.5.

An independent acoustics expert carried out nine noise readings during a six-month period last year.

Results showed a "significant increase" in noise when Alton Towers was open, North Staffordshire Magistrates' Court has heard.

The sound was at a level described in national guidance as likely to attract complaints.

Although, the court was told, it has been claimed that wind, rustling foliage and birdsong could all account for significant background decibels.

The case continues.

so a James Bond movie where people get a lot of people get killed and opposed to Harry Potter where no one gets killed until later

Im pretty sure that it would be impossible for Harry Potter to come to Disney World. I mean HP is owned by the WB, which is owned by Universal, so it would probably show up there if anywhere.
