So what's true for your son MUST apply to the rest of his generation. I'm sorry, but I stand by statement in another thread about your Universal experience: you went in with absolutely no desire to give it a fair chance and were determined to not like it (maybe not consciously, but definitely subconsiously). Some of your criticisms of it are illogical, especially since many of your criticisms could easily apply to many of Disney's attractions and/or parks.

Reading comprehension isn't your thing, eh?

I thought the best theme park restaurant was Pizza Planet at DHS, tell me more about this better place.

:lookaroun

Wow. Well, I mean you know what kind of food you like, but sheesh...I don't even think Toy Story Pizza Planet has the best -pizza- at WDW, let alone best food or best food in an Orlando theme park.

The "better place" previously inferred is Mythos in the Lost Continent area of Islands of Adventure. For a sit-down theme park restaurant, I must admit Mythos is very good; I always make lunch reservations there whenever I go. Though I will say that I think the Blue Bayou in DL is just a hair better, but that's just my opinion.

So this is the better place, interesting. I guess I have to cancel my ADR for pizza planet then, darn, and they had a chef's table setup for me in their kitchen.

Actually, it is. Perhaps it was his writing style and nothing more, but his description read more lore like excuses as to why he didn't like it rather than reasons.

If you read Monty's original post in another thread where he initially described his visit (I can't remember which thread it is, though), it's very clear that he had no intention of liking Universal. As I said, it may have been subconsciously, or he may have convinced himself that he was keeping an open mind, or as I said above, it could simply have been his writing style. The one that stood out to me is that he claimed his son loves thrill rides and left Universal saying soemthing to the effect that nothing was thrilling, and that Disney's rides were more thrilling. No one who legitimately loves thrill rides would come out of Universal thinking that, especially comparing it to Disney. It would be more legitimate to say something didn't live up to expectations, but he had low expectations going in. The whole report just read "nothing here is going to impress me."

Another thing that pointed it out to me to form my opinion was his constant throwing around of how much money he spent. No one willingly spends money on something they aren't going to enjoy, or something they have no intention of liking. Which is why I said it may simply have been his subconscious that wasn't allowing him to enjoy himself.

Heading for the great escape.
Personally I could give a flying ________ who likes what rides at what parks, as a selfish ______________ Im only interested in what suits me. The more big tarts scared to ride thrill rides that there are the shorter my wait time.

Different folks like different things I mean some folk eat turkey legs and others are happy to watch Nemo at AK. Just mental.

I love the quote with Meg about that sort of says "They will come to us if they want to anyway while they are here" (allow me to say this is not me saying that about Meg as a person, but this is the way it sounds quite often from the company she represents)

That is such a smug way to think and clearly the newer figures show otherwise. There are chunks of people who take a day to go to Disney out of their Universal trip. That makes sense. But that is mainly MK and I am willing to bet there are many more WDW guests who are taking their third and fourth days out to Universal if not more. Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios will suffer because of this the most.

Disney should be in their own league with believing to add equal or better products to the competition out there. Not to just sit back and rest on their high horse that rides far, but only so far.

I agree with that, more disney guests will visit ioa than hard rock hotel guests. With disney talking to jk before she drove up I-4 to international drive, tdo should have been planning on what they could build to compete against wwhp. if FLE is their answer, god that just sucks.

ioa gaining a million guests is more important to universal and blackstone than wdw losing a million guests to disney, but it is going to be a revenue hit for wdw none the less.

i know that more than half of the responses in this forum have what tdo needs to do, hopeful some of them are picked up by wdi and considered.

From today's O'Sentinel, 1/10:

Potter likely to remain biggest draw in 2011

One salient paragraph:

" Moody's Investors Service predicts Universal will continue recording double-digit attendance gains through the first half of 2011 and only slight declines during the second half of the year (when the resort will be facing tough comparisons against last year's Potter opening crowds)."

Just as an FYI -

They talked a bit about Potter vs. the Mouse during the news segment on the Howard Stern Show. It was obvious that they didn't REALLY know what they were talking about, but the basic point being made was that Potter is drawing tons of people, and those people are buying merch (specifically wands) like crazy.
