...and yet...instead of a general condemnation of my writing style...you opted...to make it about you...

...hmmmm...

...interesting...

look, here's my deal, if you don't like Uni, it's really no skin off my bean. What I found interesting is that, unlike your more-thoughtful explanation as to why Uni/IoA isn't for you or your family, SOME people are going out of their way to describe how Uni/IoA sucks the suckiest sucks that ever sucked. Which *I* think reads like a general condemnation of people who DO like Uni/IoA. Not to mention, kinda silly.
Fair 'nuf... I don't like their generalizations either.

Sorry, you are allowed to differ in opinion which resort you enjoy more. That is the consumer's and person's right of opinion but this one always makes me laugh. You can't make a comparison like one park is better than the other using that example when we have the 'new' DCA and Fantasyland Expansion. Look at those lately?

Can anyone defend DCA, version beta?

Its been there for a while actually if you mean the Potter Merch.

That was the main reason their online store finally got a full page. I made a purchase for a Christmas gift for someone that was just a small gift. A keychain. I don't think I would do it again though online. I did it to avoid the hassle of gas and making a three hour drive trip up there and fighting crowds at the time. I just wanted that gift. The reason I don't think I would redo that scenario would be due to that the charge for shipping for the keychain was as much as the pricey keychain itself. Nothing that size should cost that much to ship.

My wife had to get a watch battery, the regular rate shipping was twice as much as the battery.

It would be great to have options that aren't UPS or FedEx and costing $5 or more. Though I would pay to have my packages from WDW shipped to my closest disney store if it was discounted, some things can't fit into a packed trunk.

With the budget they were given, the Imagineers did a terrific job.

For those in charge that held the pursestrings and called the shots, shame on them. DCA didn't deserve to carry the Disney name, and if the billion dollar bailout they're giving the place now is any indication, the age of half-assed Disney theme parks is long gone. It's ironic how they're spending almost twice as much to fix DCA compared to how much it cost to build it initially.

Only if you let me take you around IOA to show you some of the great detail, theming and ride technology.

Then we can have dinner in the MK :D

Wait so you will be one of those guides with the flag and a group of 15 eating up every one of your words like a god on earth?

Dinner at MK? I hope it is a candle-light dinner at the fries hut, that place is so classy.

For the individual imagineers, they did what they could with the budget and vision they were given. In general, WDI let down everyone for not giving an honest opinion of what they were told to design.

It is amazing with how little they spent compared to other parks and that the garage cost a sixth of dca's cost. Well the high refurb cost reflects the amount to demo and inflation. If they spent 1.1 billion a decade ago and had a better vision of the park, DLR would have a higher profit and eisner would have lasted a little while longer.

I am curious as to why the people on this thread love WDW (this isn't an attack, just an inquiry) for me I LOVED the movies as a child so when it came time to go to WDW when I was seven (now 29 ) I couldn't wait to meet the characters! The other years I went it has always been a complete great time!!! The Harry Potter generation fell in love with the series when they were seven, eight or nine. Their parents read it to them before bed, or they read it for enjoyment, then they waited and loved the movies. They waited for the movies looking forward to being immersed in this awesome fantasy world. Maybe I am wrong but isn't that how we all got interested in Disney....we read the books or watched the wonderful world of disney on tv (watching the castle and tink every sunday night before the movie began), watched the disney movies? This new generation of Harry Potter is similar to us when it was disney. We all have our opinions as adults but I think the popularity rests on the CHILDREN of this generation....and they are potter fans like we were disney fans (and I am sure they are disney fans also) If u really think harry potter is a fad then u need to rethink how u felt about disney movies back in the day...kids these days feel that way about harry potter

My son's first book that he read independently was the first HP book. That was our motivation for going to Universal this past year. But he's been going to Disney almost as long as he's been reading and prefers it.

WondersOfLife

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
You know, if you like good theme park food, I highly recommend Sea World. All of their restaurants, counter-service and sit-down, are top notch.

Yes I agree, but you don't see as much seafood at disney world :hurl: Just looking at even fish while I eat makes me sick...:lookaroun

WHO'S UP FOR A PETITION TO MAKE WDW'S THEME PARK PIZZA BIGGER? :D

So what's true for your son MUST apply to the rest of his generation. I'm sorry, but I stand by statement in another thread about your Universal experience: you went in with absolutely no desire to give it a fair chance and were determined to not like it (maybe not consciously, but definitely subconsiously). Some of your criticisms of it are illogical, especially since many of your criticisms could easily apply to many of Disney's attractions and/or parks.

I don't think Monty is implying that.

In fact, I think Monty has gone out of his way to state that it simply wasn't for them and has even acknowledged his opinion may not be representative of the general public.

Apologies Monty if I have misinterpreted your post.

The defense of Potterland is getting out of hand. It's crossed from any sort of rational discussion into pretty obvious fanboyism.

The area is great, but not everyone will or has to like it. I think that's okay...right?

Wow! Just wow!

Yes, I spent well over a thousand dollars in order to subconsciously detest every aspect of Universal! You should really hire out your services as a long-distance psychic clinical psychologist, you'd be in strong demand!

So did you actually read anything I said or are you truly a consummate troll?

No apology required... Some people clearly don't/won't/can't read, you're not one of them.

I`ve been asked to do the first many times, and politely refused thus far.

Fries yes, candles no.

This thread depresses me. :(
I didn't know something as frivolous as theme parks could become so contentious and divisive.
