Guess the 50 Golden Statues

R2 has been in almost all SW movies/TV shows including ones made by Lucas and those by Disney.

Woody was originally a non-Disney Pixar property. Didn't hear anyone complain about him not being "Disney."

Well technically even the original Toy Story was a Disney property, as it was released by Disney through a partnership with Pixar.

Regardless, for me, it's about the live action aspect. I didn't want to see any live action characters with the possible exception of Mary Poppins, but even then I'd have preferred she be left out.

Meh, I think we were all expecting at least one Star Wars character to be included. At least R2-D2's a classic. Though I kind of wish C-3PO were included too (maybe they thought he was too obvious since he's already gold?).
Yeah, I think it was predictable there would be at least one Star Wars character in there. Still, I kind of agree with @UNCgolf that it just feels a bit out of tune with all the animated characters.

I'm very curious to know how they choose these characters. It kind of seems to me that it's a bit of a fizzer as a promotion so far. Some of the choices are 'interesting', but I think it would have been better to lean into Disney nostalgia and sprinkle in more characters like Hercules or Bernard and Bianca amongst the big names to at least get some people excited to seek out the statues of characters and films that usually don't get much love but which a lot of people grew up with. One of the things I thought was clever about Happily Ever After was that they leaned into booming 1990s nostalgia.

If they're actually right, Disney really screwed this up. Their list was terrible and had 3-4 characters from several movies. Disney would end up only representing characters from like 15 movies total.

I doubt they're going to be 100% accurate, though, since they specified they were just guessing and didn't have the real list.

Part of their list comes from the Orlando airport 50th anniversary display which has a lot of outlines of Disney characters, including most of the ones already mentioned, including Orange Head. We'll see if that was the key for all 50.

If they did then bully for them looking at that low-res image to figure it all out. My eyes got tired after a half hour or so.

I'm having a hard time believing some of them, like Bruni, for instance, but who even knows anymore.

embarrassing campaign lol, honestly I'm not even excited about these statues.
I feel like this campaign would have been more successful had they gone with more obscure characters. To that, it would have been nice to create some sort of interactive element. Don't know a character? Scan the QR code to see a short video segment on the history of that character, why it was chosen, etc. Or make it a mission to "collect" them all.

YES!
Orange Bird for the WIN!
( pumps fist )
🎉

Orange Bird was a must do.
Glad they took the initiative and included him, as I don't think there is any 'vintage WDW / Florida' character more closely associated with the Resort then that little guy.
Fantastic.

Okay, we have Orange Bird and Figment immortalized as golden sculptures de' art.
Case closed...who cares what the rest will be....
We already have the two most important ones representing WDW now.

Next topic - on to the MK's Oct 1st special entertainment.....

Or how about - what are the chances 'due to overwhelming Guest demand / request' said Anniversary statues are cast as mass produced replicas for sale.
Ooo!
😎

Didn't one of the announcements suggest there would be an interactive element?

Glad we have some more in other parks; Fantasyland is looking to be a little stacked. This is very likely to be put in Animation Courtyard.

This also crosses the halfway point for all 50 characters known.

All of the duos are counted as separate characters towards "the 50" (even if they may appear in the same sculpture). See image below in which there are 50 spaces, and the duos take up two spaces.

15 in Magic Kingdom:
  • The "Earidescent Eight" in front of the castle (as seen in concept art):
    • Mickey & Minnie
    • Donald & Daisy
    • Goofy & Pluto
    • Chip 'n Dale
  • Lumiere / Cogsworth (Fantasyland) [Near Gastons?]
  • Pooh / Piglet (Fantasyland) [Near Pooh?]
  • Cheshire Cat (Fantasyland) [Cheshire Cafe?]
  • Mad Hatter (Fantasyland) [Mad Tea Party?]
  • Orange Bird (Adventureland) [Sunshine Tree Terrace?]

2 in Epcot:
  • Dante (Mexico)
  • Figment (Imagination) [not fully confirmed / on Advent Calendar yet]

7 in Hollywood Studios:
  • Edna Mode (Municiberg?)
  • Joe Gardner (Rock n Rollercoaster?)
  • R2-D2 (Star Tours)
  • Woody / Bo Peep (Toy Story Land)
  • Flounder / Sebastian (Animation Courtyard)

2 in Animal Kingdom:
  • Timon / Pumbaa (Africa)

Bolded red hasn't been announced yet.

That's 26 in total present and expected.

Who will be the final 24?

I'm still peeved that it's not 50 statues total, but what what are you gonna do.

I feel the pairs count as one statue. Which leaves alot more possibilities. The main questions is, when do the miniature replica statues go on sale and for how much?
