Sooooooooooooo, now we're down to 22, right?

So far, in addition to the two that were already revealed when I posted my guesses, I managed to correctly guess eleven characters.

UPDATE:

All of the duos are counted as separate characters towards "the 50" (even if they may appear in the same sculpture). See image below in which there are 50 spaces, and the duos take up two spaces.

19 in Magic Kingdom:

  • The "Earidescent Eight" in front of the castle (as seen in concept art):

Locations should be pretty clear:

Dumbo & Timothy (Storybook Circus)
Stitch (Tomorrowland)
Abu (Adventureland)

We still don't have any Frontierland / Liberty Square-bound statues yet.

Also the Other Site's list is still 100% success rate. I'd call that gospel whenever Frozone or Bruni get called.

This one was a little out of left field, and is still on the Other Site's list. I'm beginning to think they had an insider leak the whole thing to them.

I also would've preferred Genie to Abu.

There is going to be some sort of game to go with this right? There is an interactive element? Perhaps prizes for completing the scavenger hunt? (Or is that too much free magic?)

Yeah, the Other Site seems to be nailing all these. It's interesting how some really popular characters just didn't make the cut (like Peter Pan or Dopey). I suppose the locations chosen for these statues played a big role in their selection. One of the funniest things to me is the Rooster and the Pig from Moana are on the list---and that Pig was barely in the film (but he is a big merchandising character).

You'd almost think they didn't have a full 50 iconic characters/films and so were really having to pad it out and get around the 50 by including two-character statues. Yet so much isn't making the cut in favor of these choices.

If it's accurate, there's no representation for Snow White, Sword in the Stone, Fantasia, Jungle Book, Rescuers, Robin Hood, Wall-E, Hercules, Mulan, Pocahontas, Finding Nemo, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmatians...

Some of those movies don't have a great option (Sleeping Beauty and 101 Dalmatians immediately come to mind) without using a princess or a villain, but still.

Disney has a deep bench.

It has many more iconic IPs than just a mere 50. It could have 50 characters for each of the 4 parks.

And yet, they're not only limiting it to 50 IPs, but by doubling up on a bunch of them, they'll only have representation for about 35 IPs (the Earidescent Eight eat of up a good chunk of the list).

There's going to be a lot of disappointment that fan-favorite IPs will be left off the list, added to the disappointment that main characters aren't represented.

Prepare for wailing.
