The signage for the ride reminds me of the artwork for this spoofy 80s themed mini-sequel in the Far Cry video game series...

Hey.. I'm not defending bad design or placement! I was just replying to the comment about what the castle represents vs. where it resides. I personally think the new tower is going to look tacky as heck where it is! :D

Oh yeah, my comment wasn't towards you haha! I just see that excuse a lot when it comes to some of the decisions Disney makes, whether it's here in California or out in Florida.

Nothing will ever be as tacky as Superstar Limo. Mission Breakout! will be a gem in comparison.

At least that one only has two different fonts. The GOTG sign has so many font styles it's almost illegible.

Perhaps then maybe the difference is that back then, you were actually being sold something of quality? I don't know.

Maybe, but since GOTG is not open yet it's hard to say for certain, but given that it's still basically the same ride as TOT it should be fine.

In comparison it's hard to argue that Crane's Bathroom of Tomorrow or Eastern Airlines' If You Had Wings, an omnimover trip past what seemed like hundreds of projection screens advertising the Caribbean resort destinations where it flew, would qualify as quality Disney attractions by any standard.

Which is exactly why I'm predicting that switching it to a Marvel brand won't have the negative impacts to the attraction some are predicting. At the end of the day the elevator drop ride will still be there, just accompanied by a different script.

I am a fan of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, not the Tower of Terror. I HATE the sensation of free-falling, but love the story and overall immersive creepiness that a Guardians overlay will not supply. Besides, are we still talking about this? I thought it was "confirmed" at Destination D, that Star-Lord and his gang of renegades, would not be taking over our Tower?

Sure you're talking about the correct location? The Guardians overlay that will unfortunately be replacing DCA's Tower was confirmed months ago.

Disney has confirmed it. People like to cry if something doesn't go their way. Wait till the ride opens to judge it.

I am very well aware the fate of the DCA Tower, lol. I don't live under a rock. I was referring to the east coast. I should have clarified what I meant by "our" tower.

That game is everything GOTG wishes it was.

I have no issues w/ GOTG itself. Easily one of, if not my favorite, Marvel movies. It's an all-around slamdunk in my book. Just rewatched it on TV again the other night and it somehow managed to get better since I last saw it, which usually is not the case with those types of movies for me. I'm sure I'll love the ride and, honestly, am glad we get to have a unique Tower ride all to ourselves out here with hopefully all kinds of amazing, much-needed upgrades. I just hate where it's placed and what it looks like from the outside (at least without seeing it in person). I suspect what happens inside is going to be a ton of fun though w/ potential for much more re-rides!

So why is Rod Sterling giving an introduction on a television? Why is the queue littered with easter eggs from the series? Why is it even called The Twighlight Zone Tower of Terror if all it's meant to be is just a trip through a haunted building?

It's questions like that which make most E Tickets fall apart. Especially the weird ones that Walt built. (Matterhorn, Submarines, Pirates, etc.)

Is Tower of Terror really 1939 Hollywood? Because the Twilight Zone TV series aired from 1959 to 1964. And an experimental TV set in 1939 had a 7 or 8 inch screen, but by 1960 a TV screen could conceivably be a 28 inch model like you see in the Tower of Terror library pre-show rooms. But why would a host from a 1960's TV show be appearing in 1939? So it's not 1939, but it's 1962, but we are seeing all this in the 21st century? Or is it 1962? And if it's 1962 why aren't the Cast Members doing the Twist?

So yeah, I'm not really worried about Guardians of the Galaxy taking over this ride. The Tokyo version is much better anyway. :D

The lands are their own separate realms. "The castle at the end of Main Street" argument would be more valid to me if it was actually part of Main Street. The castle is of Fantasyland, just like unique entrances to the other realms (lands).

And technically the castle isn't at the end of Main Street, the Partners statue, or the hub is. The hub is where the lands are split off. Walking straight down Main Street, passing the hub and keeping straight, you're already in the Fantasyland territory. One can see the entrances to all the lands from the hub... Doesn't mean it's a clash of theme.

It's not about being able to see a piece of another land from somewhere else. That's been a thing since day one. The problem is the complete lack of cohesion once this attraction opens. It's going to be located in an area that doesn't work, theme-wise. I shouldn't have to explain why a ride based on Guardians of the Galaxy doesn't thematically work in a land that is themed to early 20th-century Hollywood. It's quite obvious.

If fans are okay with this stark contrast, what's the point of having themed lands? People keep asking about that Mary Poppins ride... Why not put it in Tomorrowland, or New Orleans Square? People love to hate on USH for the park's lack of distinct areas, but for the ones that are, at least they keep it correct to theme. There is nothing intruding the respective themes inside the Potter, Simpson, and Despicable quarters.

Again, the "castle at the end of Main Street" argument just doesn't work in this case. If SBC was considered part of Main Street and its attractions, it would. SBC is thematically fine in its respective land, unlike Mission Breakout!.

From what I understand of the medium term plans, Hollywood Blvd will remain "Hollywood Land", Sunset Blvd/Hollywood Backlot will become the new "Marvel Land". I agree thematically GoTG doesn't fit 20th-century Hollywood, but it won't remain part of that land for too much longer.

Hyperion Theatre being the sort of bridge between the two, but it will continue to remain at the end of Hollywood Blvd.

Its an anthology TV show. They had stories about the future and the past. A lot of the stories weren't set in the early sixties at all.

I understand some of the area will change, but it's not happening within the next few months. The ride's overlay should coincide when the Marvel area is built, not years before.

The Hyperion is a weird impediment if the plan is to build Marvel Land from ToT and then north into the backlot.
