From what I understand of the medium term plans, Hollywood Blvd will remain "Hollywood Land", Sunset Blvd/Hollywood Backlot will become the new "Marvel Land". I agree thematically GoTG doesn't fit 20th-century Hollywood, but it won't remain part of that land for too much longer.

Hyperion Theatre being the sort of bridge between the two, but it will continue to remain at the end of Hollywood Blvd.

So Hollywoodland is only going to include Hollywood Blvd? Because it sounds like the backlot is going to be Marvel land as well. If that's the case, they should just extend the Buena Vista street theming all the way to the Hyperion. Knock down the Hyperion and include a better wienie for Marvel Land instead of that not so great fake sky. It could be the facade for a mega E ticket that works with both Buena Vista street and Marvel Land. Even if the Hyperion stays, which is likely, they can still do better than the fake sky.

All problems solved. Buena Vista streets excellent theming replaces DCA 1.0 Hollywood. Red Car Trolley, Off the page, Disney Junior and the Animation Academy still work great as a part of Buena Vista Street and it actually gives the land a little more substance and some more acreage. Kind of like how Grizzly Peak absorbing Condor Flats made that land even better.

EDIT: if the Mickey ride is coming ( BIG IF at this point) I'm guessing part of the backlot will remain Hollywood themed which is fine because Mickey works fine with Buena Vista Street as well. Sorry Oswald.

This. Extend the limits of Buena Vista Street and scrap that section of Hollywood Land. I say replace Disney Junior and retheme some of the facades.

Let's see how this pans out, if the plan really is to make the "blacklot" and Sunset Blvd into a Marvel-themed area (and therefore Monsters would logically disappear). Or we'll see if the dummies at Disney won't do anything and just let it sit.

I just might create a "Disney Dummies" thread, where we document all the current and future bad, illogical ideas coming from Disney. Lol.

I really hope that when all is said and done, Disney finally follows through with the original plans for the area. When DCA 2.0 was announced, Hollywoodland was supposed to get some love, but unfortunately, those plans never came to fruition. It is my hope that someday they will go through with this, similar to how Condor Flats was absorbed into Grizzly Peak a few years later than planned. This is what the area would have looked like if they followed through:

And here is a good article explaining all of the changes that should take place someday in Hollywoodland:

Agreed. But all that's left to do is rebuild the Hyperion Theater exterior and the Disney Animation exterior. Then some minor detail work on the last few circa 2001 signage (Schmoozies and Award Weiners) and dressing up the other "soundstages" that jut up behind the shops on the south side of the street. But it's really just about fixing the cheap Hyperion facade and removing the 1990's theme from the Animation facade.

Otherwise, that sketch above is what already exists in DCA today, after the upgrades installed in 2011-2012.

I agree and I think we re kind of saying the same thing. I would like to see the upgraded theming of Buena Vista Street Street go all the way down the Hyperion. I think the Hollywood references can stay. I just don't know if Hollywoodland would be even worth labeling as its own land if it all it ends up encompassing is Hollywood blvd.

As far as the artwork above. Hollywoodland kind of looks like that now doesn't it? Aside from a proper facade for the Hyperion.

Lol. Or how about a thread with our ideas to see which ones come to fruition?

And I agree. I can't see a scenario where Monsters Inc stays. Then again who knows. It's too bad though, that a park lacking dark rides has to lose one. I can't even think of one decent place they could move it in all of DLR. Unless Bugs Land becomes some sort of Pixar Place. But we'd be losing some solid theming for probably something a lot more generic. Then there's also the whole thing that I made this up and I've never even heard of one rumor involving a Pixar land and DCA.

EDIT: Then again its current placement makes absolutely no sense so...

Oh ya, Disney Junior is the only thing I haven't done in all DLR so id like to cross that off the list... and then they can get rid of it.

Can we please get some serious San Francisco representation at DCA? Dump A Bug's Land and give guests at least a tiny bit of SF besides those ridiculous looking Victorians across from The Little Mermaid. I'm imagining something like New Orleans Square or Liberty Square. Maybe they could take the Iron Man simulator ride from HKDL and give it a SF storyline, I don't know. I can't be the only person who finds it strange that such a large percentage of a theme park called California Adventure is devoted to Southern California, and LA/Hollywood in particular.

I also find it odd and would have liked for DCA to include more San Francisco but I doubt it now. The Hollywood Tower Hotel is turning into an alien fortress. Soaring over California into Soaring Over the World. I don't think we have a shot in hell.

Aren't you departing from a California locale when you go "Soarin Over the World" though? I assume that there's going to be some thin link to movie making/Hollywood with the Mavel expansion. Like I said I'd be ok with an Iron Man ride connected to SF if that's what's needed to get a meaningful representation of the city in the park.

Yea that would be cool. Although an iron man simulator wouldn't be my first choice. I think a simple simulator would be a let down circa 2020. (In case they re planning on using Star Tours hand me downs). Anyway, I would be cool with some loose Marvel SF connection but I just don't think it's their priority right based on their recent decisions. Plus then they would have the San Francisco bathrooms on the other side of the park. Lol.

TBH those Victorians could represent just about any small Northern Californian town from St Helena to Ferndale, which i suppose is partially why they bother me. There's really nothing about them that identifies them as San Francisco buildings.

As for Iron Man I was making all sorts of assumptions about how the HKDL attraction might be a simple and easy way Disney could expand Marvel at the park and align the California theme. I have no clue if a flight simulator ride would even fit in there. In any case, which would you rather have, an Iron Man flight simulator or Bug's Land? No question which one I'd choose!

I don't even know why I refer to them as SF bathrooms other than the fact that everyone else does. When I first heard of the SF bathrooms on these boards I didn't even know which ones were being to referred to. I assumed it was the pacific wharf food court restrooms. (If those even exist).

TBH, Eventhough I know I would probably get more personal enjoyment out of an Iron man ride, I wouldn't want to see all of Bugs land go for one simulator ride. Mostly because I enjoy the theming eventhough I usually just pass right thru because there is nothing for me to do. However, If we could keep ITTBAB and just lose fliks fun fair then I might be for it. Now, i would totally be in favor losing the entire land ( including ITTBAB) for a family friendly, people eating E ticket. I would love to see the equivalent of a POTC or HM for DCA. Whatever that looks like. It doesn't even necessarily have to be a boat ride. I just want to see Disney go back to their roots for one attraction and I think DCA deserves it. I'm all for the cutting edge tech rides, but a lot of times for me personally they are lacking the good ol fun factor.

Because when DCA opened a row of empty Victorian storefronts and the rotunda of Golden Dreams (a so-so replica of SF's Palace of Fine Arts) were supposed to be the park's representation of SF. A larger waterfront structure facing PP Lagoon meant to represent the piers along The Embarcadero housing local artisans was never built.

Originally the bathrooms were behind Golden Dreams, but were moved across the street I think when TLM construction began.

I never suggested removing it for one ride. I was imagining a San Francisco themed land with an Iron Man ride in it. There would be more to the area than just one attraction... shops, restaurants, and maybe the Red Car could pass through it too.

Ok gotcha. That's much different and I would be all about that but with a different e ticket as the centerpiece and preferably not a simulator.

Now I'm thinking they could of left TOT alone and instead we could of had GOTG: Escape from Alcatraz!

For a SF land, I would like to see a trolly car ride through the streets of SF during an earthquake. It would be similar to the concepts created for Roger Rabbit street car ride that we never got for toon town.
