I remember at the Florida version you get to the laser doors that open and you can feel this burst of heat from outside. The heat drenched you in sweat as you bounced inside the shaft. Maybe it would be a good idea for the Florida version to not open the doors too and let the heat in. An air conditioned version at Florida would be much appreciated.

So, it's going to be completely dark, except for, you know, the parts where it's not.

Did anyone see this post on MiceChat in their update today?

LOL!

Really? That would be strange since it will keep operating for a couple more months.
Possibly but just the letters on the building one so that they can start outside work so all they have to do is change the AA's music etc...

Recently visited, and noticed how heavily the Tower is being used to promote this years 'HalloweenTime' at the Parks.

A couple of photos i snapped showing a few examples i came across....

From a media event that was happening over at the Grand .....

.....to this promotional ( exploitation..? )display of food items now being sold in the Park, as shown at one of the 'AP Days' spots over in DCA this week -

There is also currently a neat 'Tower' themed DCA Guide Map currently being used that has a nice cover and promotes the 'last chance to check in..'.
Also, a fun 'taxi stand' photo op is currently in front of the 'Tower' marquee sign where you get to stand with Attraction specific themed suitcases awaiting your check in.
Someone else may have mentioned this already, but for fans of the Attraction they would probably like to know about this.
I came across it while visiting and the photo is actually quite nice!

Disney is genius. They get everyone whipped into a frenzy over the TOT closure, which drives attendance, keeps the souvenirs flying off the shelves, and the internet chat boards humming. Then in 10 years or so they'll reinstate the original ride, repeat the campaign all over again, and get the exact same results.

While they are doing a good job of exploiting the closure, TOT will not be returning, ever. This will be a permanent change barring some bizarre and nearly impossible loss of Marvel from the Disney empire.

Only APs have deep affection for TOT at DCA, and TDA doesn't really care what they think as they've proven they'll buy $900 APs regardless of the decisions made.

Or how about a Halloween TOT overlay every year?

EDIT: This may be a little tough with the new queue and facade but I'd imagine the pre show, show scenes and music could overlayed easily.

Completely different subject, but is anything really "permanent" at Disneyland? Steady change seems to be the rule rather than the exception.

Nothing is truly permanent, but since they'll be building a Marvel land around GOTG, a TOT return is beyond unlikely. The intention behind GOTG is not to be an overlay, but a full and permanent attraction making better use of the ride system than TOT does - correcting the cheap mistakes of the Pressler years. This isn't Hyperspace Mountain. Last I heard the plans even included AAs (which is hopefully still the case).

Disney is moving toward more modular experiences that can be freshened or changed out. That's a good thing when they follow up. TSMM was going to include seasonal game rotations - never materialized. Mickey and the Magical Map was designed to permit new musical numbers to rotate into the show - three years in, no dice.

The Space Mountain overlays are hugely successful with little investment. I personally think Ghost Galaxy is garbage, but I do really enjoy Hyperspace.
