I personally don't think it's the trackless vehicles that are cool (the tech in one form or another has been in use since Universe of Energy opened in 1981), but the way they're used in Mystic Manor to tell the story. Mystic Manor is a game changer on almost every level for traditional dark rides that rely heavily on practical effects.
And I thought the Tokyo Pooh ride was a fun trackless ride. Before Mystic Manor, I thought Pooh's Honey Hunt was the best looking Disney attraction since you actually fell like your in the 100 Acre Woods compared to the other Pooh rides at the other parks. Then there's the dream sequence.

I kind of thought the same thing. I mean the effects looked really cool, but I remember wondering who's house I was in and why I really care to begin with haha. The main guy and the monkey seemed so corny to me.

There's a pre-show and a queue that sets up the story, so it's a very connected, throughline classic Disney experience. It really is hard to capture on video, but it's my favorite Disney attraction worldwide by a long shot.

Mystic Manor is also my favourite ride worldwide. You are missing out incredibly by just watching via youtube, especially some of the backstory that is highly seeded in the queue and also somewhat dependent on a working knowledge of Tokyo Disney Sea.

I hope it is never cloned, ever. Hong Kong Disneyland was a sad copy-cat of Disneyland proper. MM made it transcendent.

Now all that said, I'd be over the moon excited if a S.E.A. attraction ever made its way to Disneyland. I guess MK technically is in on the fun with the subtle backstory to Big Thunder and the new Skippers Canteen/Hangar Bar restaurant. I'm not sure why they went the League of Adventurers in SDL, but I'll pretend like its an offshoot a few decades later.

It really is a wonderful backstory that has been slowly seeded amongst various parks worldwide.

Common backstory that links Tower of Terror in Japan (really most of TDS has subtle nods to S.E.A.), Mystic Manor in Hong Kong and Big Thunder in MK. Rooted in the Adventurers Club from Pleasure Island.

There are plenty of other characters from that photo above which is featured prominently in the MM queue to work with. I have suspicions that Soarin' in TDS might adopt the aviator, or the rumoured Everest project for Shanghai could use the mountain climber.

Isn't universe of energy and great movie ride technically not trackless because they follow a wire in the ground?

It's true that they are two different systems. The embedded wire acts a sensor to direct the vehicle's path versus remote sensors built at a distance from the ride vehicles (ala Luigi's), however there is no rail, track, or path to physically guide the vehicles in UoE or TGMR. Here's a good article on the evolution of trackless rides at Disney Parks:
