I agree it's well done and not every square inch of any park should be headliners. Believe me, Tom Sawyer Island and Storybook Land are two places I'd never want removed from DL. But given a choice between keeping the Adventure Trail and putting something like Mystic Manor there, I know how I'd vote. :D

I agree. What the ROA/ Storybookland add atmospherically is immeasurable. The ROA is like the soul of the west side of the park and Storybookland is the heart of Fantasyland.

You can't really see the challenge trail unless you walk inside of it and from what I remember from the 1 time walking through, although cool, it's not much to look at. I wouldn't mind seeing a dark ride in its place as DCA needs a few more.

Some playlist suggestions:
T. Rex - “Bang a Gong (Get It On)”
Steve Miller Band - “Take the Money and Run”
Sweet - “Ballroom Blitz”
CCR - "Bad Moon Rising"
David Bowie - "Starman"
Jay & the Americans - "Come a Little Bit Closer"
The Archies - "Siugar Sugar"
Thin Lizzy "The Boys Are Back in Town"
Ram Jam - "Black Betty"
Paper Lace - "The Night Chicago Died"
Player - "Baby Come Back"
Stevie Wonder - "Superstition"

I think the music will come straight from the film's soundtrack, no?

Well sure. I'd say the same about Story Book Land too. ;)

My vote is still to have the entrance to Mystic Manor on the old Maliboomer pad with the show building backstage behind CA Screamin' on the SW corner of DCA. This would necessitate moving some support buildings. It is also contingent on closing the guest access roadway the parallels Katella. If you convert that to the backstage perimeter road, you free up more footprint for MM.

This idea has been kicked around in the past, and I still agree that it makes sense. I'm not sure how large the Mystic Manor facade building is, but it appears that our Haunted Mansion facade building would fit in that area. We wouldn't even necessarily need to have a direct Mystic Manor clone, but I like the idea of an entrance building/queue in that helix with the show building (hopefully housing something just as impressive as Mystic Manor) back behind the coaster.

I wouldn't want a mystic manor clone either. Trackless dark ride yes. But I wasn't that impressed with the ride through I saw on YouTube. Maybe I had really high expectations from all of the hype I've heard or maybe you have to experience it in person but the ride through looked kind of boring. If that's Honk Kongs "Haunted Mansion" I would say they got the short end of the stick.

It's definitely something that needs to be experienced in person. I remember thinking it looked alright on YouTube, but riding it was transcendent. It's so unbelievably great.

I kind of thought the same thing. I mean the effects looked really cool, but I remember wondering who's house I was in and why I really care to begin with haha. The main guy and the monkey seemed so corny to me.

Ya I agree. The guy seemed corny to me. The monkey was ok. Probably needs to be appreciated in person and I'm sure the hype machine didn't help.

The effects look great and the trackless vehicles are cool but I just kind of felt like you were meandering around but never went anywhere. Something is missing and I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it's own version of "yo ho" or grim grinning ghosts" ? Or a greater sense of danger or mystery?

But as you said it probably needs to be experienced in person. I've never watched Disneylands POTC on video but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't come close to doing it any justice.

Count me in with the folks who were blown away by the YouTube videos. I remember thinking Disney sure has come a long way since Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

What's so cool about a trackless ride vehicle?

I personally don't think it's the trackless vehicles that are cool (the tech in one form or another has been in use since Universe of Energy opened in 1981), but the way they're used in Mystic Manor to tell the story. Mystic Manor is a game changer on almost every level for traditional dark rides that rely heavily on practical effects.

Agree with all the above but it still just comes across as a boring experience that's missing something IMO.
