Actually that may be further down, if I'm remembering right. As you were.NOT Bayside Brews!
The beer is safe as it should be.Actually that may be further down, if I'm remembering right. As you were.
If we must lose DCA's version of the Haunted Mansion, could we at least get a version of Mystic Manor rethemed as the Winchester Mystery House for the SF area?
You know. The restrooms across from Mermaid? What San Francisco area?
Cannery row? (well Monterey at least. Same thing.)
I've said that since the day Mystic Manor opened. The pushback was that we don't need two "Haunted Mansions" in the resort. They are completely different experiences and any similarities could easily be modified to something different. #savethecorndogcastleIf we must lose DCA's version of the Haunted Mansion, could we at least get a version of Mystic Manor rethemed as the Winchester Mystery House for the SF area? Just take out everything between Goofy's Sky School and Little Mermaid.

Um not to San Franciscans. That's like saying Santa Barbara is the same thing as LA.
The little bathroom street between Grizzly and Mermaid is the San Fran district of the park. It used to be officially labeled as the "Bay Area" - when Golden Dreams was in place it had the Palace of Fine Arts rotunda (still there, just repainted for Mermaid). I don't think they've bothered calling it that in years, but that was its original purpose. It even used to have Forrest Gump's theme song in its music loop.
Oh I know. I was kind of kidding. As someone who lives in SF it's always bothered me the way the park pretty much ignores one of the most beautiful and photographed cities in the world.
While I'm not a fan of the change, who's to say the new reskin won't also have a creepy vibe to it and continue to fill "Haunted Mansion of DCA" slot that it currently holds? Don't forget... The Collector collects people/life forms and puts them on display in tiny boxes. There is very much a creep factor there and I hope they embrace it and keep that spirit alive in the update.
If we can make the claim that Mystic Manor is the Haunted Mansion of HKDL when it falls into a more whimsical/fantasy type attraction with a Figment-like monkey and explorer dude, I don't think we need to write-off the Guardians' Tower as no longer filling that void in DCA.
It's not about the scare tactic, it's about the setting/proper theming.
Not defending whether or not it has the right theming for the area. (Until a proper Marvel area moves in, it most definitely does not.) Just whether or not it still serves as the Haunted Mansion of DCA.
Could've been worse: Mulholland Madness could've been The SF Giants present Crazy Crab's Runaway Cable Cars.Oh I know. I was kind of kidding. As a snobby San Franciscan it's always bothered me the way the park pretty much ignores one of the most beautiful and most photographed cities in the world. Don't even get me started on that cartoonist Golden Gate Bridge that used span the main entrance. Ugh.
I still think it could replace the Adventure Trail Playground/Waste of Space. Just claim Lord Mystic retired to the Pacific Northwest. DCA defintely needs a *more-than-meh* dark ride (not counting TSMM, which I love).I've said that since the day Mystic Manor opened. My daughters loved it as well until they got a bit older. I always enjoyed climbing around in there with them.Don't tell that to my 3 year old...he freaking loves that area of the park. It may not be for adults, but it allows little kids to put on their explorer hats and run wild for a bit. It's actually very well done for what it is IMO.
But agreed, we are lacking in quality dark rides over at DCA. As someone who owns a video game console made after 1995, I have a hard time even waiting more than 20 min for TSMM.
Aren't the buildings across from Mermaid supposed to be SF (not Monterey) while the Pacific Wharf is supposed to be more reminiscent of Monterey? You know. The restrooms across from Mermaid?
Cannery row? (well Monterey at least. Same thing.)
