Haha I know, I'm just mentioning all DCA rides that I think people have nostalgia for.
I gotcha, but don't you have to have nostalgia for things from the past that are different now (ToT and Soarin')? GRR is pretty much the same as it was on opening day, so I don't really see what there is to feel nostalgic about.

I am sure if GRR changed its theme, there would be some people who would be longing for the original. Most people don't like change. Unless Disney adds a few AA's to the ride, then I think people would cheer. I know I would. :joyfull:

Disney most likely believes they can mess with DCA in ways they can't with DL. I highly doubt attractions like Pirates, Mansion, Matterhorn, Jungle Cruise, etc. will ever be on the chopping block because Disney knows the fans just won't have it and will come for them should they ever attempt to get rid of them. You never know though. They once considered replacing Lincoln with the Muppets. *mega facepalm*

There's a reason why DCA is referred to as "The Dump" Not because of its quality, but because it is a wide range of attractions with little to no park cohesion.

As long as the AAs isn't this:

Oh, without question. Plussing an attraction (through the use of AAs or otherwise is) is great. But overlays and changes in overall theme haven't warranted too much confidence in me of late.

Agreed! In the early 90's I thought WDW could do know wrong. The whole experience gave you more than you expected - be it a ride, AA show or live performance. Now (with maybe Pandora and SWL being the exception) I feel Disney goes for good-enough, not exceptional.

The early 90's WDW was indeed the best. I spent SO much time there.

I've been trying to figure out a way to analogize how I feel about current Disney Imagineering and what's been done lately (Pandora and SWL excluded) and to me it kind of feels like Disney is the babysitter and we're the kids who wanna do something fun. But instead of offering us amazing, interactive, thought-provoking activities, they hop us up on sugar and just switch on a movie for us to watch. Sure, it gets the "job" done and we can say we "did" something, but it really doesn't require that much fore-thought or innovation.

Oh. I might have a different take on what Nostalgia means. For sure what you mention is a big part of it. But nostalgia can build also from years of memories riding of the same attraction even if it hasn't changed. For example, if someone grew up riding POTC and then goes back to DL after many years to take his kid, they would probably be feeling nostalgic. Could be wrong but that's my take.

No, I totally get what you're talking about. I know I have withdrawals from not having ridden Spaceship Earth since 2012 (and 1998 before that). Likewise, I have nostalgic withdrawals for the original Journey to Imagination and the Living Seas.

I think the main reason DCA just doesn't stack up to Disneyland is because it's not Disneyland. But you're right, the park doesn't feel cohesive, and now it's really not going to, with an entire Marvel area apparently coming.

Regarding these new offerings coming, the only thing that just doesn't sound interesting at all is the dance party, for obvious reasons. In the words of my grandmother, "gag-a-lag."

Everything else doesn't sound terrible. Not good, but not terrible. The comments in the article are funny.

It's not like they had already had a set of characters that weren't pirates that could be marketed to boys like the princesses like Hercules or Peter Pan. It's a real shame they've never made movies based on those stories.

You don't mean that Peter Pan or Hercules would have the same appeal to teen boys and males as Marvel would, do you?
