What about the view of Soarin over Canada from China?
It's an iceberg?
My take, which is seemingly a minority, is that the Swolphin, being architecturally... significant. Is no problem to be looking over the shoulders of the national pavilions. It's a pretty skyline.
For those who complain about it, I point them, like you just did, to World Showplace, Showcase Plaza, Soarin', and Test Track, for some pretty awful views in comparison to the Swolphin.
And even for those northward looking vistas intentionally meant to be seen, well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I behold no beauty in them.
A telephoto shot across the lake creates a distorted picture where there is no depth of field making buildings look like they are immediately behind one another. When you walk around the lagoon, normal stereoscopic human vision puts those buildings far off in the distance, though they are visible.
Besides, if the Swan wasn't there, a telephoto shot of France from across the lagoon reveals that the Eiffel Tower is just a model atop one of the buildings. The lack of depth of field also destroys forced perspective.
My take is that for the sake of reality, you can't hide new buildings forever if you're going to keep expanding. But, they should be nice looking. Swolphin is nice looking (IMO). I hope GotG's gravity building gets a facade that makes it nice looking.
