I feel like many people aren't realizing that the look of Mission Breakout in California Adventure isn't based on some common aesthetic in the GOTG movies... It's supposed to be based on the Collector's Tower that's located on the planet Knowhere in the the movie. Or it's supposed to be a second tower of his made in Disneyland or something.. not entirely sure... BUT point is I keep seeing people saying "hope this doesn't look like GOTG Tower" when there's no way they would do that since it wouldn't really make sense. This ride in Epcot is supposed to have to do with the planet Xandar and the Nova Corps in the GOTG movies. Which is a much nicer looking place than Knowhere. When I first saw the movie I actually felt like it looked like a Tomorrowland/Future World mix.. kind of... Maybe watch the first GOTG movie and look for the scenes when they're in Xandar. If they base this building off a building from there I really don't see why it wouldn't look nice and fit with Future World.

I'm guilty of saying that I hope they won't clad it like the GotG Tower.
You're right - they won't.
With Xandar as a source, and Epcot as a location - this structure will look like something in Xandar - which looks like Epcot anyway.
The cube we are seeing might only be the inner structure anyway.
It could be clad differently on the outside.

This is where Xandar Plaza was filmed. It is quite modern.

I've always felt that Epcot had a feel to it kind of like Brasilia. Fictional Xandar is very similar. I've always loved the architecture of Epcot. Its buildings really should be better recognized as the works of art that they are (and were, in some cases).

Hopefully, they'll do something over top of the big box to make it blend better with the rest of Future World. Epcot is a truly unique park and any additions really should try and maintain the stylistic feel of the rest of it. I can hope, at least.

Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! takes place at Disney California Adventure. Project Sausalito takes place at Epcot.

It's interesting to see how effective a few black lights and flat scenic elements can be when everything else is dark. With the lights on, it's just a standard coaster. With the lights off, it's an attraction.

All I could think of was that with the lights on, it's just a standard launch coaster... that probably could've taken the GotG overlay. :/

Yeah, I hadn't thought about that, but you're right. I'm sure that the thinking, though, is that Epcot isn't appealing to the "thrill ride" crowd, so that's why it's being put there. You know, because Epcot really needed thrill rides. Sigh.
