Why not just get talented people to think up an original idea, trust them, give 'em the money, build the thing, CHANGE THE WORLD? Isn't that what Pixar have been doing? Walt Disney Animation Studios?

Soarin' Around The World is SO Epcot Center. It proves it can be done.
I agree that it fits well, but it was created for an overseas park and retrofitted into the US parks. If Shanghai hadn't paid to have it made, I suspect we would still be soarin' over CA for the next decade...

Insert obligatory Monty Python sketch here ---->

MAN: Morning!
TICKET SALES CM: Morning!
MAN: Well, what've you got?
TICKET SALES CM: Well, there's rides and brands; rides, merch and brands; rides, parades, brands and brands; brands, brands, meet-and-greets, merch, brands and brands; brands, brands, brands, brands, brands, brands and brands; or a Turkey Leg basted in french-fry grease garnished with a Mickey head and brands.
VIKINGS (singing): Brands, brands, brands, brands, brands...!
TICKET SALES CM: Shut up!

So, wow, in but 8-10 hours we have:

Insiders, or those with direct inside knowledge(not one, not two, but i count at least three) that confirm the current plan now is to put GotG in UoE and potentially due other expansion in WoL and other areas of futureworld.

We also have those who are opposed to this greatly, as it goes against the original purpose and direction of E.P.C.O.T. - I actually agree with the reasoning by the way, but not opposed to this idea though.

We now have at least two posters who have decided this has to be false, cause Disney cannot have any marvel characters in Disney due to contract with Universal - to this I say please smell the coffee - this is the second push to get GotG placed and Disney legal would not even sniff the idea if they didn't have rights to do so, corporate america doesn't do that anymore, I work for a global company, and cannot tell you how many loops through legal we have to jump just to get an idea on our 5 year plan. I will add the fact that GotG is already surfaced in GMR and in villans show as stated before. So lets at least put this one to bed now.

Now we have at least one of the ones above, and more who feel this is impossible as GotG doesn't fit in Epcot - which is a hybrid of #2 but with a slight twist. Again, I don/t see any disagreeing, that this is totally out of the box, and not a clear fit. We agree I think 100% all of us. The difference seems to be there are some who are so welcome to change in Epcot, and something new, that they have become ...numb? to the ramifications of this. I will easily put myself in this camp. I went to Disney on my honeymoon 25 years ago. My wife and I had a wonderful time in Epcot and MK and MGM. They had just started clearing land and working on DAK. So we talked how and when we would come back. Now, starting 7 years ago I took my kids to see Disney - through band trip - and was shocked to see how different Epcot was...and how sad it had become from what it was. So any change, any ....renewal of what Epcot will be to me is a positive. I know this will not resonate with the purists but I can live with it.

I am hoping beyond hope(yeah I know, they haven't done it lately) that this is a "plan" to restage Epcot, and make it something slightly newer. Yes, it means abandoning the education piece, but like it or not, that is not what families are looking for in a vacation now. So more new rides, and added IP, is the demand. I take solace in the fact that Disney has at least read some of the hand writing on the wall, and realized they can't just sit stagnate in the US parks anymore. With the restage of DHS, the update of DAK with Avatar, and now work on Epcot, we have movement to once again make the parks newer and more exciting.

Sorry for the long post

Both of Universal's parks are literally nothing but IPs. Both parks. It's laughable that you can lambaste Disney to the extent that you'd never spend a "single, solitary dime" there, yet you'd consider an AP to Universal, where they literally jam IPs into every single attraction in every single land of both its parks.

It's like giving up soda because there's too much sugar, but then eating a bag of candy.

But both parks are filled with WORLD CLASS attractions, and the company is CONSTANTLY upgrading technology and rolling out BETTER product. Disney is now forced to play catch up.

Your rudeness is surpassed only by your ignorance...
Our next move may have to be a Walk of Atonement.

Really I guess I must have imagined all the tourists in the museums of Balboa Park, Munich, the Reichsmueum, touring the castles of Edinburgh. Stirling and Tower of London. The people on board the Ships moored in London, San Francisco and San Diego must all be ghosts. The Whisky Experience must be purely for drunks, and those venturing into the vaults and Mary Queens close occult followers. Hell even the pretendy parliament in Edinburgh gets visitors.

Why must everything be aimed at the brain dead? I love steak and prawns but I dont want them every bloody meal. No I've never read a comic book, watched very few of the super hero type movies and have no real interest in doing so, I dont enjoy them. There is a plethora of good interesting subjects to make attractions out of. But were only getting the option of ones that can help off load merchandise for kids.

You hit the nail on the head here. I think if you are a theme park fan views the two competitors as relative equals, then you should hold them up to the same standard. The fear here is ultimately is Disney becoming another Universal whether they know it or not. This is further proof to me the two just can't be equals no matter how you slice and dice it.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Thanks for the welcome.

How have I been rude enough to him? I pointed out I thought his post could be construed as rude. He explained why. I said fair enough and we moved on... cycle through the entire post for all my interactions with him please.

people are blowing this majorly out of proportion.
Please refrain from using the Lord's name. It's not acceptable.

There's a difference between unsubstantiated rumour (which that was) and this. I don't shout unless there's a reason. It doesn't really
matter if you believe it or not. No skin off my nose.

I can't wait till our friends at a certain United site fall to pieces the day Disney announces...it is going to be quite an interesting day

I've prepared and have taken screen caps of of all the certainty and denial "posts" that this project is actually for real

Just so we're clear, I am not disagreeing with information about the possible ride but to say that it's a done deal based on insider information is kind of silly. You imply that the legal ramifications have been thoroughly vetted but again this is on insider info and not concrete proof. I'll believe it when Disney actually announces it's a GOTG ride and not some sort of non-ride.
