I tend to agree that "future" can be a loosing battle, so that is why I think the focus should shift more to "reality" then "future". Show cool things about our history, about other parts of the world, about science, but without getting to far into predicting the future.

i don't know where you are from but theres a place near where i live in Yorkshire (England) called Magna... I could imagine something similar at epcot... an interactive cutting edge fun learning experience for kids.

There is a science museum in Philadelphia that does the same sort of thing. Ironically, they have an exhibit right now called "The Science of Pixar" which is something that would have fit great in Epcot.

just think with all the space at Epcot it could of easily been done inside one of the innovations building.. hell both innovations buildings... would of been a great feature for the park in my opinion!

With this announcement the last trace of Epcot Center just went 'poof'.

Guardians of the Galaxy won't be themed to Energy, or Health, or whatever. It will be themed to Guardians of the Galaxy (and getting you to buy Groot Plush).

Any other IP - at least in the front of the park, there probably won't be any attempt to connect it with the 'themes' that EC was built on. Any and all attractions that don't immerse the guest in 'Purchased IP' will last only until the budget is made to replace it... Popularity is irrelevant - you are there solely to spend money and immerse yourself in the IP they put in front of you.

Goodbye Theme Park, Hello IP Park :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

(and just a few minutes ago Matt Ouimet was on CNBC...)...

I did this exhibit when it first opened, and hoped the entire time that I was there that this will move to Innoventions when its time is up at the Institute. It would be PERFECT for Epcot (would've been even more perfect in the AoA but alas).

Characters in World Showcase, used correctly, enhance the understand of the nations depicted by reminding us of the stories that come from those countries. Disney, of course, hasn't always used characters correctly to that end (Morocco is not in Arabia, so *** is Aladdin doing there, for example), but it can be done.

Honestly, Aladdin being in Morocco bothers me way more than Frozen in Norway. Get him out of there and add UAE or Saudi Arabia to the Showcase if you want Aladdin to be in a correct area.

So with all this they will still leave a whole pavillion empty for their stupid seasonal festivals? UoE sucks but at least it's not an empty building that is half assed to be used for the Food and Wine and the stupid Flowers...

If they won't so anything to Spaceship Earth, then they should turn that into the Tiger Woods Golf Arcade.
It already looks like a golf ball.

"Join Tiger Woods as he is caught cheating by his wife and escapes in his escalade until he crashes it. Then run away from Tiger as she tries to use his 3 wood to smash his head while yelling obscenities in Swedish!"

See? Add Swedish and you bring back the Epcot spirit!

Walt would be severely disappointed with the direction EPCOT has been steered by current management. Capitalizing on a product is one thing, but placement of that product, in this case GOTG and FEA, was an art form Walt perfected and that is being thrown out the window because Iger just sees a quick buck. He needs to invest a little to get a lot back, instead of pawning these attractions off on EPCOT and reworking rides that are already established, use some of that 45,000 acre land to make a new park or at least expand on to Hollywood Studios and MK for these rides.
Walt would have been severely disappointed with the way EPCOT opened in 1982. No where near his original dream.

I don't believe nemo fits at all. Yeah it's fish but it has nothing to do with the overall sea base theme that is still obviously there.
I know I'm may get a bit of flack for this, but I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. Unlike the Little Mermaid retheme originally proposed for Project Gemini, Finding Nemo works because unlike the Little Mermaid, the sea life in Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory for that matter, was modeled on specific real world species and breeds. That along with the overarching themes both the movie and the existing pavilion shared on marine conservation make it a match made in heaven. You may not like how it was executed, but on paper, Nemo is actually one of the of the few IP tie-ins that actually enhances the pavilion's original message for audiences.

As it stands the Energy building will stay. With a new ride system.

Thanks for the clarification. If I recall, Energy is a relatively tall roofed, decently large building. Assuming a portion of the building would be used for queue and this other walk through type attraction, I'd wonder if we would see some sort of screen based attraction in here to fully utilize the high ceilings and smaller remaining space... for a franchise like GOTG where creating enough animatronics to make it feel immersive enough could be prohibitively costly, I'd think a screen based attraction (or at least an attraction which relies heavily on screens like Shanghai's Pirates or the new attraction coming to Star Wars Land) would be the way to go...
