I've been at Disney World in July 2004 & 2005 and all I can say is it is HOT - it's Florida  so be prepared. Pace yourself and if you can take breaks and go back to your resort for a swim. Make sure you drink plenty of water. I got a headache every day from the heat and not drinking enough. The nights are pretty warm too. You can expect a rain shower during the day, but they usually don't last very long. Have fun!

My dad lives in Ft. Lauderdale and he went to WDW in mid-July last year and he actually complained about the heat and crowds... I was surprised on both accounts. I lived in FL for 10 years but it was a long time ago so it's easy to forget... it is hot and humid, but less humidity in July than September (which isn't saying much.)

I would probably not pack a sweater since they are so bulky, unless you really don't want to buy one if it does get chilly. Sunscreen/hats/bring your own poncho.. they run about $14!!!!

Also have patience with the crowds, and if your prone to perspiring ALOT like me, you should carry an extra towel, small from your room, maybe the hand towels. Hats are a must, and maybe an extra shirt, light in color. Have fun! :D

It will rain sometime between 2 and 6 most days, so take a poncho and dry socks with you in case it's a sudden downpour.

It will be hot and humid. Just keep the cool water/coke/beer flowing and you should be ok. Also plan pool breaks in the afternoon and head back to the parks after 5. A lot of the people head home and it's not as crowded when it gets cooler.

Utilize the fast pass system to your advantage.

If you're staying on property, take advantage of Extra Magic Hours!

I seriously doubt you will need jeans or a sweater. Flip Flops, shorts, and t-shirts are what us locals put on from May til' November!

Since you asked IF you would wear shorts everyday and IF it would get cool at night, I want make sure that you understand that it will be VERY HOT and humid.

Honestly, if I won a free trip to WDW in July, I would probably not take it. Now that's just me. I'm not suggesting you not go, I just encourage you to be prepared so that you can enjoy your trip. It will not get cool at night, but the AC inside most buildings will be enough to give you chill bumps! I really would suggest tank tops, shorts, and plenty of sunscreen everyday. Can any of you Central Floridians throw in some more tips?!

It will be very hot and humid, and will not cool down any at night. Light colored shirts will help, and drinking lots of fluids. Having ice cream seems to make me feel cooler in the afternoon (of course it could just be the sugar rush), it also gives us a chance to take a short break. Getting wet on a water ride will take a long time to dry, so we would usually plan on heading back to the room after riding one (not much fun walking around with wet shorts). Don't over do your first day, nothing worse than getting worn out the first day then needing a day or two to recover.

Make sure you drink lots of water. It will be very hot and very humid. Make sure to use lots of sunscreen, especially if you wear tank tops. Light colored clothes are best. Do not wear dark colored t-shirts. Good walking tennis shoes are a must. Make sure to take a poncho with you. The rainfall doesn't cool things off. It can make it more muggy.

I've been at the end of June and mid-August. It was hot. You can cool off at the misting stations in the parks and the air conditioning on rides are wonderful. You may want to take a break mid-day and cool off.

It's hot, humid, and crowded. We've been there during the summer many times and have always ejoyed ourselves. We save the air conditioned shows for the hot afternoon. We then enjoy a nice, long, early air condtioned dinner. By the time we're done with dinner, the rest of the day is easy to get through.

We never take breaks and we never go back to our resorts. We've never had a problem.

We'll actually be at BWV from 21-29JUL. We're then going to Vero Beach from 29JUL-3AUG.

I love it in July...everything is open late...
and it's warm enough to go to the water parks...

just walk fast between each attraction...don't linger in the sun...

and yes, it gets down to like 90° at night...

if there's a good wind...

This is true... it's unreal but like clockwork. Usually 2:30-3:30 you'll get a sunshower, and it brings more humidity. The good news is that it can scare people out.

My mom and I only go in July. I love the hot weather so it does not bother me. Like everyone else said it is very hot and humid. So drink plenty of water. I recommend going early in the morning then head back to the hotel in the afternoon to cool off, then head back to the parks in the evening. That is what we do. You could always cool off in the stores. Really it is only bad when you have to wait in the line in the hot sun but once you get inside you can cool off.

Definitely bring shorts and tees. I dont recommend jeans especially if you sweat alot. You really will not need any sweaters for nighttime because it does not get that much cooler. Hope this helps.By the way when in July will you be going I am also going in July for two weeks?

I've seen some people recommend wearing tank tops. I would only suggest tank tops if you're incredibly used to hot weather and if you already have a tan and/or incredibly long-lasting sunscreen. Because the only thing worse than the heat is the subsequent sunburn that comes from exposing skin to the elements that isn't normally exposed.

I'd suggest short sleeved button down shirts, one size bigger than you usually wear, linen if possible, and collars to protect your neck. Shorts that are at least knee-length, also light fabric. If you're wearing sneakers, wear socks that wick moisture (blisters in the Florida sun seem especially brutal). And slather yourself in waterproof sunscreen, and reapply generously.

Oh, yeah, and have fun!

My #1 tip for you would be...

DO NOT GO TO TOM SAWYERS ISLAND!!!!
The raft ride over will be very hot and sweaty.

Other than that, just wear a lot of d.o. or bring some along with you because there's nothing worse than smelly people. And also, since it usually does rain, I'd wear a nice COMFY pair of flip flops that won't blister in between your toes, so that way you won't have to wear soggy sneakers. Whatever you do, don't wear the flip flops that have a wire-ish bottom, they will kill your feet. You should wear flip flops around the house before you go and walk in them while they're wet, or even take a shower in them to test them out.

My children and I went to Disney World last June 29-July 9th. I did not find it too bad as long as you planned well. I live in Massachusetts so I'm not used to the Florida heat but these are a couple of things we did that really helped. We brought the water bottle fans with us everywhere and I thought they were a big help. One day we forgot them and we were miserable. Also, we got on the 1st bus to the park each morning (there were no lines on any popular rides), we came back to the hotel around 1 and swam in the pool, then around 4 we headed to what ever park we wanted to spend the evening at. It worked out well that way. The crowds at MK at night were the worst(we got there one night at 8 and felt like sardines in a can) but if you get there between 4-6 you can get in and feel somewhat comfortable. We had a great time though and it was not as bad as we thought it would be.

As others have already said, climate will be unlike anything you experience in the Pacific NW! Disney does have misters throughout the parks and many queues go indoors, so it is not too bad.

Do bring at least two pairs of shoes per person and rain parkas. As was said, it seems that there is a downpour between 2 and 4 each day.

We made it a point to be in the parks first thing, get the main visiting done first thing, cruise through lunchtime using fastpasses and head back to the room for a rest or swim mid afternoon, then head out again for the evening.

Okay, not sure if this will help, but a lot of people had mentioned sunburns, sunscreen, etc.

Being from up North, I spent a good three weeks down in FLA during the summer months. On one of the first days, a CM lifeguard came up to me as I was lounging around the pool. This CM told me to first put the highest level of sunblock/sunscreen on. Put it all over and use lots of it. Then, once the sunblock/sunscreen had absorbed into my skin, to put suntan lotion over top. This let me get a really good tan, without burning, by still blocking the UVA/UVB rays. I am not kidding - I went from Northern white to a nice healthy tan without burning once. Now, I always use this advice and am quite thankful to the CM who suggested it.
