Hmm.... I will need to hear and learn more about Michael Colglazier before I can pass judgement. But I can say this much.... Disneyland is very different from a WDW park. And if Mr. Colglazier thinks he can get away with stuff like the Yeti not working for years while the rest of the attractions gather dust by the inch (cough... Dinosaur) and go long term without rehabs and upgrades (cough... Bug Show.... cough, cough... Kali, Jammin' Jungle Parade, FOTLK) then the Disneyland fan community will be a rude awakening for him.

I hope Mr. Colglazier is being set up by his superiors with an honest assessment of what he's getting himself into, and how little of what he's been doing at Animal Kingdom the last few years applies to Southern California. Putting an entire park in B Mode for several years while you focus on DVC upcharge experiences is not an option in Anaheim, Mr. Colglazier. :D

In better news, nice to see George K. get a promotion in scope if not title and be allowed to head back home to Florida in a triumphant role as he nears retirement age. George wasn't a 100% perfect fit for Disneyland, but he did very good work on DCA and leaves on good terms. Congrats George!

George Kalogridis will still report to Meg Crofton, as will the new Disneyland president Colglazier.

Just got this from Claire. Mostly fluff, but though I'd post if anyone was interested.

Dear Members,

I want to share an important Disney Vacation Club organizational announcement with you, our Member families.

As Disney continues to identify ways to deliver the best-possible vacation experiences, the company is providing new growth opportunities for members of the leadership team. In this case, Disney is giving me the opportunity to lead the Sales and Marketing organization at Disneyland Paris, leveraging my depth of international sales experience.

I am thrilled about this new opportunity, which begins February 1, and also deeply proud of the great work our team has done over the past couple of years at Disney Vacation Club. The team has accomplished so much and truly elevated the benefits, perks and experiences we provide to our Members.

You will be pleased to learn that longtime Disney leader Ken Potrock is succeeding me at Disney Vacation Club as Senior Vice President and General Manager. I can tell you that you're in great hands with Ken. He is a wonderful leader, full of creativity and passion for the Disney brand, and extremely talented. Most recently, Ken has served as the Senior Vice President of Disney Sports Enterprises and Downtown Disney in Florida. I have known him for a long time and couldn't be more delighted with his passion for the Disney brand, for innovation, and for always putting our Guests and Members first. In his new role, Ken will also have responsibility for Adventures by Disney, our family guided-tour business.

As I say "au revoir" for now, please know how much I have enjoyed my time with Disney Vacation Club and the privilege of getting to know so many of our Members. I look forward to Ken and the rest of the organization continuing to enhance the Member experience in creative and magical ways!

At Disney Vacation Club, it's all about you - the Member - and that commitment will never change. Thank you for vacationing with Disney year in and year out. We look forward to delighting and surprising you each time we welcome you home.

Sincerely,

Claire Bilby

Well since he did a great job with DTD and PI being the Senior Vice President of Disney Sports Enterprises and Downtown Disney in Florida, what could go wrong? I hope he does well in his new position.

Meg has done a fine job strategizing how to let market share scurry up I-4.

Not sure if Meg is actually a SW/UNI employee.

On the surface this looks good news for WDW, bad news for DL. George being a 40 year veteran obviously understands how things should be done, and from what happened at DLR looks like he can get things done. Lets see how he can do at WDW.

For DLR, well, things don't look so good. Colglazier was previously at DTD during the Pleasure Island mess, and then at AK, where he seems to have done largely nothing, other than to let Everest rot, and cut back entertainment. I don't know how much of that was directly his responsibility, but I don't see any stars in his career so far.

where's @WDW1974 to gloat when you need him? Show your ora, spirit!
I have it on good authority that the Spirit will manifest here later this evening.
Indeed - he called it spot on.
Indeed. Was there ever any doubt?

You should use that. A WDWMagic Exclusive Scoop! You read it here first!

Al really should have credited Spirit in his article yesterday...

I have a strong feeling there is a quiet agreement to let her hold the position for a year or so - so her exit doesn't give the impression she is being escorted out. While sounding impressive, I wonder how much she will actually be responsible for now in this new role.
Considering how much Al Weiss stayed relatively out of the way during the DL Rennaisance I am hoping not much.

Methinks you nailed it. I see this move as being her last, most likely.

I mean, dont you need to do something noteworthy to merit a promotion? Or is simply not rocking the boat, shutting your mouth, and doing as youre told enough?
