Frozen

I swear, if the Academy gives Best Animated Film to Monsters University, I will throw things. They already snubbed Wreck-It-Ralph for Brave due to their hard on for Pixar, I would not be able to take it if they snubbed Frozen.

I saw the film yesterday and I left the theater with the biggest grin on my face. It was absolutely breathtaking. I have been playing the soundtrack all day on Spotify and I cannot wait to see it again (and again and again..). This film solidified for me that Disney is back to creating quality, memorable films again. And good gravy that score...

No way it goes to MIU they already passed up Pixar before with Cars 2.

One Little Spark...
PINELLAS PARK, Fla., Dec. 3 (UPI)--Parents who took kids to see Disney's "Frozen" at a Florida movie theater said they were mistakenly shown a sexually explicit scene from another film.
Lynn Greene of Largo said she took her grandchildren to see the PG-rated animated movie at Regal Cinemas Park Place Stadium 16 in Pinellas Park Friday when workers said they would be temporarily shown another cartoon as a result of technical difficulties, WTVT-TV, Tampa, Fla., reported Tuesday.

"They put in the filler, it looked like 'Steamboat Willie,' the old Mickey Mouse cartoon, and then all of a sudden it goes into this other scene," Greene said.

Greene said the scene appeared to be a sexually explicit clip from an R-rated movie.

The theater said the clip played for less than two minutes, but Greene said it seemed longer.

"It seemed like forever when you're trying to, you know, cover a little guy's eyes," she said. "I didn't have enough hands to cover his ears too and he got the sound down real good."

Green said the free movie tickets offered to audience members were not enough of an apology.

"You're talking, what, a PG-rated movie to all of a sudden have an R-rated scene up there for little children?" she said. "My concern is that there should be safeguards in place so that this doesn't happen again."

A Regal Cinemas representative said the company is working to prevent similar incidents from taking place in the future.

Sounds like an employee spliced the dirty movie into the Get a Horse reel ala Fight Club

Honestly? I'm willing to chalk that up to the Academy getting confused. "Let's give it to Disney this year. Their film was Brave, right? After all, that had a princess, and magic, and people getting turned into bears...."

Anyway, you can't really fault the Academy for not "getting" Wreck-It Ralph. If the late Roger Ebert's opinions about video games are indicative of a wider perception within the Academy about video games, then it's understandable that they'd pass on a film that celebrates video games to the degree that it did. It doesn't make it right, but it is what it is.

Besides, I think Frozen has enough of the kind of things that the Academy really gets excited for that they'll skip their Pixar bias this year.

Also, did anyone notice that the orchestrations for "Let It go" in the film were different than what is used in the World of Color scene? Here's the scene from WOC:

I felt the WOC one was incredibly superior to that used in the film. Anyone reason why? I guess you could say the movie one is more modern and has wider appeal, but the WOC one is much fuller, matches up with Idina's voice much better, and fits the feel of the scene better.

I definitely know where you're coming from. Over the years I've had a lot of fun growing up to the evils of Ursula, Scar, Jafar, Frollo and so on. Thing is, we have plenty of these. Frozen is the first time that I can recall that Disney nailed the antagonist and made a "middle-ground" kind of villain interesting. This has always been Pixar's area of expertise and to see Disney have a successful crack at it is refreshing. The closest they've managed to come to this kind of character before was in Brother Bear (with Kenai's brother) and lets face it, he wasn't even close to interesting. Just my opinion and again, I can definitely see why you'd be disappointed. I'm sure we'll see future fairy-tale adaptations that tackle a straight-forward villain. :)

Brother Bear and also Treasure Planet. In many adaptations, when Jim lets Jon Silver go, I think, "Jim, you're a shmuck." But in TP it was justified. While something of a crook, he had a code. In most versions, Silver is in charge because he's the nastiest; his redeeming quality is that he likes Jim. In Treasure Planet, it seems like they worked their way back from that good point, thus making him a pirate who's just barely keeping a bloodthirsty band in check with his wits and the promise of loot. He reminded me very much of Captain Cold from the Flash comics, particularly the 2000s era and onward, and that's a good thing.

The film went up 3 percent on rotten tomatoes standing at a wonderful and very braggable 87 percent. I wonder if we are jaded as Disney fans though, I really think the film was fantastic. If this is what Disney Animation can do, well I look forward to the future.

I thought I was the only one who thought that! I also think the WoC version is more epic than the movie version. I wish they would have used that version instead.

Im a fan of the nostalgia critic his brother who whoever that guy is, not so much.
That's Rob. His older brother.

He's played a larger role in the "Critic" than is known. He's come out lately to help his brother out. Agreed, not really a fan of him, but I do think their analysis is fair.

In some aspects I agree, but with some of his other points eh not so much, overall they seemed like they liked it. I do agree what he is saying though, that this is the reboot disney needs for the rest of their animated canon, this is the little mermaid, before the blowout classic beauty and the beast. I personally can't wait for the next film coming, however what worries me is that WDAS hasn't announced their next musical fairytale. We have zootopia which really doesn't interest me at all, and big hero 6 which I am very worried about.

If you follow them as closely as I do, that was a VERY glowing review.

Note, Rob said what has been said in the fan community many times. Frozen makes it seem like Disney Animation is back!
