Not at amusement parks... not at any entertainment that I can think of actually.
Actually there is an amusment Park in Indiana called Holiday World and they have free sodas and refills. They also provide free sunscreen and parking. It’s a great park. Very clean and local family owned. The water park and amusement park are included I. The ticket price. It’s not huge like Disney, but has great rides. It’s in a cute little town called Santa Claus.

It wasn’t a ban if I recall...it was a heavy tax on the excess... which was kinda ingenious. We have a long history of taxing the things that are bad for you anyway.

There should be a tax on chef mickeys...per plate 😜
Yes, that’s correct-it wasn’t a ban for all places that provided soda (some restaurants couldn’t provide cups larger than 16 oz so it was kinda a ban), but it was nicknamed the “soda ban”, at least locally as a generalized term for the whole situation.

lol, Darlin, there are a ton of things that I "shouldn't" be doing. drinking soda is probably the most family friendly one I can post.

lol, my late husband was a triathlon athlete, never drank soda or alcohol, healthy living and then died at 53 after 6 months of an aggressive cancer.

I'll keep my coke, and do it right.

It was a joke @eliza61nyc

From the bottom of my heart, so sorry about your late husband. There's a lot more to look out for than just soda.

Yup. I have never seen where it says on the menu board at McDonald's that refills are free.

They are simply choosing not to enforce it because of the hassle of monitoring the people who are gaming the system.

I think - if you’re literal - you’d find that many places where refills are “free” actually don’t advertise as such...McDonald’s being an example.

On sitdown restaurants...I agree. But beverages drive food sales there.
Your ignorance of a fact does not make it any less true.

To be clear, only about 10% of McDonald's restaurants are owned my McOpCo, which is the internal organization that runs the corporate stores. These tend to be "unique" locations like airports, rest stops, the Vegas strip, etc. 90% are franchises, and the franchisees are free to make their own policy.

Exactly...non enforcement because the syrup isn’t worth the fight.

Bringing it back full circle...that’s exactly what Disney has done with the paper cups that lead to this thread in the first place...apparently till now

I, for one, have never told my kid to eat everything.

But, I do get where it comes from...it comes from a generation who had, literally, nothing to eat. And, it wasn't that long ago (generationally).

I grew up in that household. Father came from a communist country and they had little to eat; farmed what they could. So I was fortunate to grow up in the States, and we always owned restaurants and the likes. We were never obese (family was alway quite lean actually), but always told to clean our plates, I believe for this very reason. We also appreciated home cooked meals and stayed away from sodas, processed foods, etc.; don’t live sedentary lifestyles, etc.

That’s awesome! I wasn’t aware of the drunk policy, but I have looked into visiting Santa Claus IN and Holiday World.. that’s one more incentive!

I’m not sure that board proves anything...at least it doesn’t “authorize” refills. It tells you what shouldn’t be done...not giving “have at it” authorization.

In the real world...obviously it’s implied and how things are.

I just think this is one of those things where there’s some truth on both sides. McDonald’s - and Disney - isn’t encouraging you to consume gallons of product...but they also aren’t taking steps to stop it.

Disney apparently is NOW...that’s “Margin accounting”
At its finest.

Those owners actually bought out an amusement park here in Birmingham, Alabama. The park used to be a really fun water park/amusement park about 15 years ago then the owners went bankrupt. They shut down/sold most of the amusement rides and it was bought by another company that opened up just the water park portion. They ended up selling to the now current owners who are slowly getting it back to how it used to be. It is nice to have free parking, sunscreen, and drinks, especially when our other nearest park (Six Flags Over Ga) charges like $30 to park

I have never seen where it says on the menu board that I'm not allowed to lick my waiter at Applebees. That doesn't mean anything.

Post the free refills sign...if you’re gonna take that tact. Or quippy false equivalency doesn’t actually make the point.

Disney or mcD’s...either will do.

We’re not debating how it is...just the official language and how disney can limit to one pour at ANYTIME and not apologize to anyone.

The mugs are there for a low cost $18.99 plus modest state taxes

You can't have it both ways.

True: There is no sign stating "free refills."
Also true: There is no sign stating "no free refills."

You can't claim that the absence of a sign proclaiming my position is proof of your own position.

Of course they can. I don't think anyone is questioning their right to do so.
